Day after physical therapy...

3/24 Edited to

... Read moreExperiencing soreness after physical therapy is a common and expected part of the healing process. From my own experience, the day following a session can often feel challenging as muscles and tissues respond to new movements and stretches. It’s important to approach this soreness not as a setback but as a sign that your body is working to rebuild and strengthen itself. One key strategy I’ve found helpful is to balance rest with gentle activity. While it’s tempting to completely avoid any movement when sore, light walking or gentle stretching can actually alleviate stiffness and promote circulation. Using heat pads or warm baths can also soothe sore muscles and improve flexibility. Hydration plays a significant role too. Drinking plenty of water helps flush out toxins and supports muscle recovery. Additionally, I’ve leaned on my spiritual practice during tough days, finding comfort in reminders like "His Grace Is Enough" from 2 Corinthians 12:9. This verse helped me stay grounded and patient through the ups and downs of my postop journey. Incorporating mindfulness and positive affirmations during recovery can elevate both physical and emotional well-being. Sharing these real-life experiences with communities or support groups, especially fellow stay-at-home moms (#sahm), can provide valuable encouragement and motivation. Remember, soreness after physical therapy is temporary, and persisting with your rehab exercises will lead to increased strength and mobility. Listening to your body while maintaining a hopeful and steady approach makes all the difference in a successful recovery.
