My Sunday Super Sensitive Skin Routine ๐ŸŠ ๐Ÿซง ๐Ÿงผ

If you have sensitive skin that feels impossible to manageโ€ฆ this post is for you. ๐Ÿค

It took months to rebuild my barrier after reacting horribly to trendy products like salicylic acid and retinol. Hyperpigmentation, breakouts, irritation ๐Ÿ˜– โ€” Iโ€™ve been there.

Now, my skin is finally glowing again by keeping it simple and gentle. Hereโ€™s my Sunday reset:

Before You Start:

๐Ÿงผ Always begin with clean hands and freshly cleansed skin using a super basic, gentle cleanser (like Dove White Soap)!

No fancy actives yet โ€” just a clean slate to work with.

My Sunday Routine:

1. Gentle Cleanse:

โ€ข โœจ Aveeno Positively Radiant Brightening Scrub

โ€ข Apply to wet skin, let it completely dry

โ€ข Warm water in microwave (1.5โ€“2 min), cool slightly

โ€ข Use a baby wipe + warm water to gently wipe off (no harsh scrubbing!)

2. Gentle Exfoliation ๐Ÿซง :

โ€ข ๐Ÿ“ Eminence Organics Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant (with Lactic Acid)

โ€ข Mix with a little water into a soft paste

โ€ข Apply very lightly, let it dry fully

โ€ข Remove gently using same warm water + baby wipe method

3. Calm the Skin ๐ŸงŠ๐ŸงŠ :

โ€ข Apply a cold ice cube to reduce inflammation

4. Treat Hyperpigmentation ๐Ÿ’ง:

โ€ขGood Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum

โ€ข 4 drops (forehead, cheeks, chin) โ€” lightly pat in and let fully dry

5. Moisturize ๐Ÿงด :

โ€ข ๐ŸŒ Seoul Cuticles Multifunction All-in-One Aging Cream (Snail Repair)

โ€ข Super hydrating, non-greasy, and lightly citrus-scented!

6. Sunscreen ๐Ÿงด:

DONโ€™T FORGET SUNSCREEN IF YOUโ€™RE HEADING OUT!

Other Products I Use Sparingly (Once a Week!):

โ€ข ๐ŸŒ™ Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Max Night Moisturizer โ€” gentle retinol, 1x/week only

โ€ข โœจ Topicals Faded Serum โ€” for dark spots, 1x/week at night

โ€ข ๐Ÿ’ง La Roche-Posay Effaclar Toner โ€” very light, 1x/week patting, no rubbing

Special Sensitive Skin Habits that Helped Heal My Skin:

โœ”๏ธ No layering strong actives back-to-back

โœ”๏ธ โ€œNaked skin nightsโ€ (no moisturizer!) once a week to let my skin breathe

โœ”๏ธ Minimal makeup โ€” foundation 1โ€“2x/week max

โœ”๏ธ Dandruff shampoo once/week during humid months (fungal acne prevention!)

โœ”๏ธ Extreme caution with how often I use exfoliants or acids

Mini Skin Journey Reflection:

At one point, even touching my skin wrong would cause breakouts and dark spots.

I had to strip my routine all the way back to Dove soap + one moisturizerโ€ฆ and slowly rebuild.

Today, my skin is hydrated, calmer, and way more resilient. โœจ๐Ÿค

Healing sensitive skin takes patience โ€” but itโ€™s so worth it. You are not alone!

... Read moreSensitive skin can often feel overwhelming to manage, especially after reactions to popular products like retinol or salicylic acid. To maintain a healthy skin barrier, it's crucial to stick to gentle routines. Start with a basic, non-irritating cleanser such as Dove Soap to prep your skin. For exfoliation, choose mild options like the Eminence Organics Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant, which utilizes lactic acid for a soft touch. Incorporate soothing elements, such as a cold compress, to reduce inflammation and promote healing. When treating hyperpigmentation, serums like Good Moleculesโ€™ Discoloration Correcting Serum can be surprisingly effective when used sparingly. Donโ€™t overlook hydration โ€” opt for nourishing creams, like Seoul Cuticles Multifunction Aging Cream, which enhances moisture without greasiness. It's important to prioritize sunscreen to protect your sensitive skin from harmful UV rays. Additionally, maintaining simpler habits can greatly improve skin resilience. Limiting the use of strong actives, practicing 'naked skin nights', and using minimal makeup are excellent strategies that can lead to significant skin improvement over time. Being cautious with exfoliants and observing how your skin reacts can steer you toward a balanced skincare routine, helping to reduce breakouts and irritation. Remember, patience is key in the journey of healing sensitive skin; you are not alone in this endeavor.
