How to glow up mentally

Here are my tips to improve your mental health and achieve your goals.

1- Make a vision board; having your goals layed out in an aesthetic form helps you stay motivated, print it out and hang it somewhere you can see it.

2- adapt a new hobby; hobbies like gardening, baking, and art are great for expanding your skill set while feeling very accomplished. The fact that you can see your progress and hard work helps your brain appreciate what you do.

3-journaling; just write down your thoughts, doodle, write poems. If you have trouble sleeping because your brain is too packed, journaling is a really good solution.

4-Meditation; you don’t need any supplies or fancy techniques. After you get home from school or whenever you need to focus just find a comfortable position, close your eyes, and sit. Don’t move, try not to think about anything, and just clear your mind. You’ll find that after meditation you’ll be much more focused and productive.

5- Take care of your body; make sure to get sleep at night and eat nutritious and satisfying meals. This will help keep your energy high and focused.

I focused on images that represented *feelings*: peace, accomplishment, joy, strength. Maybe it's a picture of someone reading peacefully, or a serene nature scene. Make it less about material things and more about the mental state you want to achieve. Look at it daily, not just to admire, but to visualize yourself feeling those emotions. This small shift in perspective can make a huge difference in your motivation and overall mental health glow up. Finding Your Perfect Hobby (and sticking with it!): The original post mentioned gardening, baking, and art – all wonderful! But don't be afraid to explore. Have you ever considered learning a new language? Or perhaps coding? Even something as simple as taking long walks in nature or learning to play a ukulele can ignite a new spark. The key is finding something that allows you to enter a 'flow state' – where you're so engrossed, you lose track of time. This is incredibly therapeutic and a fantastic way to give your brain a break from daily stresses. For me, attempting to learn watercolor painting has been a beautiful mess, but the process itself is so calming. Journaling: More Than Just Doodles: Journaling isn't just for when your brain is 'too packed' at night. It can be a morning ritual to set intentions, a midday check-in for emotions, or a gratitude practice. Try different techniques: stream-of-consciousness writing (just write whatever comes to mind for 5-10 minutes without stopping), gratitude lists (name 3 things you're grateful for daily), or even bullet journaling to track habits and moods. It’s amazing how much clarity you gain when you get those swirling thoughts onto paper. It’s a safe space for your true self to emerge as you work on how to glow up mentally. Making Meditation Accessible: The idea of "don't move, try not to think" can be intimidating. Don't worry if thoughts pop up – that's normal! The practice isn't about stopping thoughts, but observing them without judgment and gently returning your focus to your breath. There are many apps like Calm or Headspace that offer guided meditations, which are perfect for beginners. Even just 5 minutes of mindful breathing can make a huge difference in your focus and overall mental calm during your mental health glow up journey. Holistic Body Care for a Healthy Mind: Beyond sleep and nutrition, remember hydration! Our brains are mostly water, and dehydration can significantly impact mood and cognitive function. Also, consider incorporating gentle movement into your day. It doesn't have to be intense gym sessions; a brisk walk, some stretching, or a yoga session can release endorphins and clear your head. And don't underestimate the power of sunlight exposure – it helps regulate your circadian rhythm and boosts your mood. Finally, setting digital boundaries, like putting your phone away an hour before bed, can drastically improve sleep quality and reduce mental clutter.
