Fattily Ever After: I relate so much to Stephanie Yeboah. She talks about navigating through life as a plus size black woman. She highlights topics such as dating, childhood upbringing, and depression. This book was so encouraging and affirming.

The Vanishing Half: The overall plot was really interesting. The characters had depth and I could easily visualize the story but I do feel like there could have been a better ending. It felt like there was a lot of build up to a lackluster ending.

His Only Wife: Juicy storyline for a nosy person lol. I could really only visualize two of the characters. All characters annoyed me. I do feel like it brings up a topic that I hear of a lot; men in African countries having multiple lives and families.

Within These Wicked Walls: This is a period piece without the over explanation of the setting and scenes. Left a lot of room for my imagination. Each character has a past (even the minor characters). Happy ending

HoodFeminism: Loooooved this book! Mainstream feminism is challenged by the intersections of feminism and the culture of black women. If you’re a black woman who didn’t grow up in the suburbs, then most of what Mikki Kendall speaks on is not new information, but it felt really good to read. I do feel like this book was written to educate non poc more than made for black women to read.
