But even more than living true to ourselves… what if our greatest goal was living a life that is pleasing to the Lord?
In a world that constantly pulls us toward approval, applause, and expectations, it takes courage to pause and ask:
Is this honoring God? Is this reflecting His heart?
Galatians 1:10 reminds us, “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
We can’t chase both. One leads to pressure. The other leads to peace.
This weekend, let’s shift our focus:
Choose obedience over popularity.
Choose integrity over image.
Choose faithfulness over feelings.
When we aim to please the Lord, everything else falls into its proper place.

Reflecting on the challenge of living a life that honors God rather than pleasing people, I’ve found that it requires a deep and ongoing commitment to self-awareness and spiritual discipline. The example of Galatians 1:10, which questions our main pursuit—seeking human approval or God’s approval—serves as a powerful guidepost in moments when societal pressures feel overwhelming. In my own experience, shifting focus away from external validation towards living a life aligned with God’s heart has been transformative. It often means saying no to popular opinions, controversial trends, or even well-meaning advice, and instead choosing actions that resonate with biblical values like honesty, humility, and love. One practical way I’ve embraced this is by starting my day with prayer and reflection on whether the choices ahead align with honoring God. This practice brings clarity and peace, reducing the stress from trying to meet everyone’s expectations. Choosing integrity over image means being authentic in relationships and responsibilities, even when it’s not publicly recognized or applauded. Furthermore, living faithfully often involves embracing discomfort: standing firm in my beliefs when it’s not easy, showing grace when others may not, and prioritizing spiritual growth over fleeting feelings or opinions. This shift doesn’t isolate you from community; rather, it invites deeper connections with like-minded individuals who support faithful living. Ultimately, living to please God reorients our purpose and empowers us to walk boldly with a heart full of love and a spirit committed to faithfulness. It’s a journey that requires courage, but yields lasting peace and fulfillment that worldly approval cannot offer.
