12 years married ❤️

Whew. This anniversary hits different. Not just because we made it another year (praise Him 🙌🏾), but because this past year felt like boot camp for our souls and we still chose each other.

Truth is: marriage isn’t hard because of the other person… it’s hard because it holds up a mirror to your own growth, healing, ego, and capacity to love like Jesus. And baybeeee that mirror don’t lie 😂

But with God as our foundation, we’ve laughed, cried, paused, prayed, and pressed on. And I wouldn’t want to do any of that with anyone else but you, Darryl.

The Hebrew word Ezer means “helper” and not in a “let me carry your shoes, sir” kinda way. It means warrior ally.. one who comes alongside in strength, not weakness and Buggy P, being your Ezer has become one of the greatest honors of my life.

I’m your helpmate, your rib, your cheerleader, your accountability partner, your hype girl and DEFINITELY your personal hoochie and I’m so grateful for the story God is still writing in us. Cheers to 12 years Mr. Driver ❤️

Celebrating 12 years of marriage offers a significant milestone to reflect on the transformative power of partnership through the lens of spirituality and mutual support. One central theme in enduring marriages is the idea of growth—not just individual growth but growth as a couple, which requires vulnerability, patience, and often, a degree of humility. As highlighted, marriage acts much like a mirror, reflecting back to each partner their own areas of healing, ego, and capacity to love selflessly, inspired by the love modeled by Jesus. This spiritual perspective encourages couples not only to support each other but to become stronger allies in facing life's challenges. The Hebrew word "Ezer," meaning "helper," holds a profoundly empowering meaning beyond traditional assumptions of help. It refers to a warrior ally who stands alongside their partner with strength and resilience. This concept reframes marriage as a partnership of equals who bolster each other’s strengths rather than reinforcing weakness. Building a marriage on a firm foundation of faith involves routines of prayer, open communication, and shared vision, which can provide resilience during difficult seasons described metaphorically as "boot camp for our souls." Couples who prioritize these spiritual practices often find renewed joy and deeper connection, even as they navigate the complexities of life together. Finally, celebrating anniversaries such as the 12th is not only about marking time passed but also embracing the story that continues to unfold. The message of gratitude and commitment to the ongoing journey reflects the essential nature of marriage as a ministry and lifelong partnership—one enriched by laughter, tears, accountability, and unwavering love. This holistic understanding aligns with broader perspectives found in contemporary Christian marriage discussions, emphasizing marriage as a sacred, evolving union.
