I’m listening #AlaniTaylor #Murph #AlaniTaylorGf
I’ve often found myself in moments where I’m sharing a story passionately, only to notice that the person I’m talking to isn’t fully engaged. It’s a common experience many can relate to—trying to connect, but feeling like your words are only partially heard. For instance, when I’m telling a story and my partner’s attention drifts, it can leave me feeling undervalued or disconnected. This lack of full attention isn’t always intentional; sometimes distractions or preoccupations get in the way. But the impact on the emotions involved can be significant. From my perspective, genuine listening goes beyond just hearing words—it’s about being present and showing interest through body language, eye contact, and responsive feedback. When someone does this, it makes sharing much more rewarding and deepens the bond between people. In moments where I’ve felt ignored or half-listened to, it’s helped to gently communicate how I feel rather than assume they understand. Encouraging open conversation about active listening habits can improve relationships dramatically. Overall, this experience reminds me that good communication requires effort from both sides. Being attentive when someone shares their story speaks volumes about care and respect, enriching both the story and the relationship.
