How to grow and maintain your nails✨
Growing my nails and keeping them from breaking has always been something I wanted to figure out and I have finally found the best routine and I am going to break it down so you can do it too!
💗 I always start by filing and buffing out my nails to the desired shape and smoothness. Removing any rough edges will keep your nails from getting caught on things like fabric and such.
✨ Next I like to go in with a nail growth/strengthener nail polish on my natural nails. I really like this one by 10 over 10 called The Rehab. You can find it at Target.
🌈 Cuticle care can be tedious and confusing at first BUT it is so important and that’s why I love the Olive and June Cuticle Remover. You put that stuff on your cuticles for 5 mins and brush your nails with a small brush (I used a tooth brush for a while) and the dead skin just falls off! After that I clean up any excess skin with my cuticle pusher and nippers but usually after the Cuticle Remover there is not much left if any at all.
🦋 Now the best way to ensure your manicure lasts is by proper prep for the nail plate. I like to use the Nail Dehydrator and Nail Primer by Modelones (it can be found on Amazon for pretty affordable).
🍃 for a more structured natural nail (to keep the nails from breaking) use a builder gel and gel base coat. I LOVE the Beetles Builder gel. It is similar to luminary at a more affordable price point. Use the builder gel to create the perfect apex shape to make your set last! Then go in with your base coat to provide extra structure for the gel set (If you are not going to paint color over the builder and base gel but you don’t like the look of shiny nails, simple buff out the shine for a very natural look). I get both of these on Amazon.
🌸 My favorite part of my manicures is using cuticle oil! I love the Essie On a Roll cuticle oil. It is apricot scented and to die for! I reapply multiple times a day because I love it so much!

Hi fellow nail enthusiasts! Building on my routine for achieving strong, long natural nails, I wanted to dive deeper into some common questions and popular remedies that often come up when we're trying to grow our nails. My journey to healthy nails taught me so much, and I'm excited to share more practical tips and insights! First off, you might be wondering, "how does nail growth work?" It's actually quite fascinating! Our nails are made of a protein called keratin, and they grow from an area under your cuticle called the matrix. New cells are constantly pushed forward, hardening as they go, creating the nail plate we see. Factors like genetics, age, and even diet can influence how fast they grow. That's why nourishing your body from the inside out is just as crucial as external care! Now, let's talk about a popular home remedy I get asked about all the time: garlic! "Does rubbing garlic on nails help them grow?" and "garlic in clear nail polish" are common searches. Many people swear by garlic for its purported nail-strengthening and growth-boosting properties, mainly due to its antifungal and antibacterial qualities, which can promote a healthier nail bed. Some crush fresh garlic and apply it directly, while others infuse it into a clear nail polish or a simple oil. While there isn't extensive scientific research definitively proving it makes nails grow *faster*, a healthier nail bed can certainly support stronger growth and prevent issues that cause breakage. If you try it, be mindful of the strong smell and potential skin irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin! Always do a patch test first. And for any treatments or polishes you apply, remember how crucial proper nail preparation is. Using a good nail dehydrator and nail primer before any application ensures maximum adherence and effectiveness, significantly helping your goal to strengthen natural nails! Beyond specific products, enriching your nails with the "best oils for nail growth and strength" is a game-changer. While I adore my Essie On a Roll cuticle oil, expanding your oil arsenal can provide even more benefits. Jojoba oil, for instance, closely mimics our skin's natural sebum, making it incredibly moisturizing for both nails and cuticles. Argan oil is rich in Vitamin E, which is fantastic for repair and protection. Castor oil is another popular one, often credited with stimulating growth due to its ricinoleic acid content. And don't forget good old Vitamin E oil, either applied directly or from a capsule, which can significantly improve nail strength and prevent yellowing. I try to massage these oils into my nails and cuticles daily, especially after using my Olive & June Cuticle Remover, to keep them supple and hydrated. Consistent moisturizing is key for healthy, natural-looking nails! Finally, let's touch on overall "nail care" and hygiene. While my routine focuses on growth and strength, maintaining general nail health is paramount. This includes being gentle – avoid using your nails as tools! Protecting your hands with gloves when cleaning or washing dishes can prevent exposure to harsh chemicals that weaken your nails. A balanced diet rich in biotin, protein, and iron also plays a huge role in supporting healthy nail growth from within. And yes, even when you're trying to grow them, regular, gentle filing (as I mentioned with my nail file and buffing block) helps prevent snags and encourages uniform growth. It’s all about creating the best environment for those "healthy natural nails with cuticle oil shine" to thrive! Remember, consistency is your best friend on this nail growth journey. It might take time, but with the right routine, proper hygiene, and a little extra nourishment, you'll be flaunting your strong, beautiful natural nails in no time! Happy growing! ✨

What do you do when a nail breaks? I have one nail that was looking so amazing until I realized it had a break in it. The crack isn’t too big but like I don’t wanna lose the nail 😭
