Forgiveness is how you heal 🫶🏼🤎
There was a time when I said I forgave someone, but the memory still controlled my emotions.
God showed me that forgiveness isn’t pretending the pain didn’t happen — it’s releasing the control it has over you.
Has anyone else discovered that forgiveness is a process, not just a decision? #forgivenessjourney
Forgiveness can often feel like a complicated and deeply personal process. Many of us might say we’ve forgiven someone, yet find ourselves emotionally tethered to the memories of the hurt they caused. From my experience, real forgiveness doesn’t mean erasing the past or pretending the pain never existed. Instead, it’s about freeing yourself from being emotionally captive to those memories. One practical step that helped me was learning to think deeply about the situation and praying for guidance and strength — echoing the wisdom, "Think about it, pray about it, and forgive as you have been forgiven." This helped me to gradually shift from a place of resentment to one of peace. It’s a step-by-step release of the anger and hurt that can so often weigh people down. Another important insight is understanding that forgiveness is not a one-time decision but a journey. It ebbs and flows; some days feel easier than others. The key is patience and kindness with yourself as you navigate this path. Sharing your feelings with trusted friends or a support community, like those connected by the #forgivenessjourney, can provide encouragement and perspective. Ultimately, forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves — a way to reclaim emotional control and open space for healing and growth. It fosters resilience and empathy, helping us to move forward with renewed hope and freedom. From personal experience, embracing this process with compassion has allowed me to shift from being controlled by past pain to experiencing genuine emotional healing.
