Dear Grandpa
I’m sure you’re tired of hearing from me … and maybe you aren’t .. that lady bug came back into the room today & Journee noticed it . Sometimes I wonder if you think about me like I think about you .. sounds silly because you’re not here anymore but I would like to believe that it is possible in spirit . Saying I miss you is an understatement. I’ve battled with a lot of emotions since you left me . Anger being the top one … maybe it’s the holidays kicking my ass right now … but I wish you were here … I carry you with me even when I want to forget you but I know that isn’t possible .
When the lights shut off
And it's my turn to settle down
My main concern
Promise that you will sing about me
Promise that you will sing about me

Grief is a complex and deeply personal journey that many face after losing a loved one. As you navigate through this painful experience, it’s important to understand that your feelings of anger, sadness, and longing are valid. During holidays and special occasions, these emotions may intensify, reminding us of the absence of our loved ones. Embracing vulnerability and allowing ourselves to experience grief can lead to healing. Connecting with others who share similar experiences may provide comfort. Joining support groups or engaging with online communities focused on grief can foster understanding and compassion. Recognizing that each person’s grief is unique can help combat feelings of isolation. Additionally, commemorating the memories of those we've lost can serve as a profound source of solace. Simple rituals, like lighting a candle or sharing stories, can bring light to the dark days of grieving. It’s essential to remember that expressing your emotions can be an important step in the healing process, allowing you to honor the love and connection that continues to exist in your heart.
