In the hush of the house where the candlelight sighs,
She lingers in mourning with dusk in her eyes.
Her gown, stitched of grief and the salt of old tears,
Trails echoes of vows made in long-vanished years.
The portrait above wears a smirk made of lies,
He left with a whisper, not even goodbyes.
Now cobwebs compose her most intimate hymn,
A waltz with the phantoms whose laughter grows dim.
A teacup still warms from a hand that won’t hold,
The hearth has gone hollow, the memories bold.
Yet every third night, when the bell softly rings,
She pens him in poems and marries her wings.
For love is a ghost with impeccable taste—
He haunts what is tender and leaves what is chaste.
So she drinks from her sorrow, in velvet and lace,
A bride to her sorrow, with ink on her face.
