“She Wore the Blindfold Like a Crown”
—a spell to see what cannot be unseen
She wore the blindfold like a crown,
stitched not of silk, but of sorrow—
a gauze-soaked prayer wound tight
by hands that taught her not to ask why.
Beneath the hush of velvet dusk,
She clutched the rose like a confession
She’d never meant to bloom.
Its thorns kissed her collarbone,
each one a name she’d never speak again.
Bloodless, but not unbroken,
her skin learned the language of silence—
The kind that screams beneath the ribs.
She whispered truths no god had earned,
to a room that had long since stopped listening.
And still, she burned.
Not with rage, but with return.
Not with fury, but with fire
so old, it remembered the first heartbreak
spelled in the stars.
And the rose?
It was never for romance.
It was a blade in disguise.
She pressed it to her heart—not to bleed—
But to cut the last thread
tethering her to who she pretended to be.
Now she sees with no eyes.
She walks with no shadow.
She loves without apology.
And in the breath between petals,

“May all that was stolen
be returned without shame.
May I see with my sight
that outlives the flame.”
