PVC Pipe
PVC pipe colors are standardized to clearly divide the application type and be safe to the user, detailing the differences as follows:
• Blue PVC Pipe (for plumbing and drainage):
❇ It is the most popular pipe, used for drinking water system, pressure pipe and general drain
❇ Produced in accordance with TIS 17-1989 by pressure quality layer into 3 levels, 5, 8.5 and 13.5, the numbers of which are the pressure values that the pipe can receive in megapascal units (or bars).
❇ Caution: It cannot be used with hot water because the pipe will soften and make the water smell
• Yellow PVC Pipe (For Electrical and Telephone Line Conduit System):
❇ Used for lacing electrical wires and telephone wires to protect wires from impact or humidity
❇ Made in accordance with TIS 216-2524, the outstanding features are electrical insulation and non-flame.
❇ Suitable for indoor or wall embedded applications. Because it is not resistant to sunlight (UV radiation). If taken to the sun for a long time, it will be crisp and break easily.
• White PVC Pipe (For Electrical and Telephone Line Conduit System):
❇ Use the same electrical and telephone line lacing aspects as yellow, but have superior properties: sun-resistant (UV)
❇ The pipe body can be cold bending more than 90 degrees without heating, convenient installation
❇ Suitable for floating piping work on walls or exteriors, because white blends with walls and does not have to be painted over.
• Grey PVC Pipe (For Agricultural or Industrial Works):
❇ For agricultural work: often low-pressure conduit, used to deliver water in cultivation. This type of conduit is not standardized, TIS directed, and is usually the thinnest to save costs.
❇ For Industrial Applications: Used for Sewers, Irrigation Pipes, or Chemical Pipelines which are manufactured in accordance with TIS 999-1990
In addition, in international systems or in industrial facilities, colored bands or symbols are used on pipes to indicate what is inside, for example, blue is a bile pipe, purple is an acid-alkali, red is a fire suppression system, and brown is a sewerage, etc.; HDPE type pipes (black pipes), if there is a blue band band band, are used for plumbing work, and orange band bands are used for electrical work.
