want a resume that actually gets replies? 💻

here’s the resume I used to land my current role as a product marketing manager in tech (after getting ghosted by way too many applications 😭)

I reworked my resume so many times before this version finally started getting replies. here’s what made the difference 👇

🔹 I tailored it to the job description

instead of listing everything I’d ever done, I rewrote my bullet points to highlight results that matched what the company cared about (like go-to-market experience, storytelling, and cross-functional work).

🔹 I used strong, measurable results

every bullet started with an action verb + outcome. think “launched X campaign driving 200% increase in signups” instead of “helped with marketing projects.”

🔹 I kept the format clean and easy to scan

no fancy designs or colors, just a clean one-page template from Canva with clear sections. recruiters spend seconds skimming, so clarity > creativity.

after I made these tweaks, I started getting callbacks within days from roles that actually fit.

I've heard some people don't like to have a "summary" section on their resume, but I think it can be helpful to fit keywords in. what do you think? yes or no to the summary?

... Read moreCreating a resume that stands out and gets replies can be challenging, but focusing on key elements can make a huge difference. First, tailoring your resume to the specific job description is essential. Recruiters want to see relevant skills and successes that directly relate to the position they're filling. Highlighting achievements tied to go-to-market strategies, storytelling abilities, and cross-functional collaborations often resonates well for product marketing roles in tech. Using strong, measurable results in your bullet points not only demonstrates your impact but also catches recruiter attention quickly. Starting bullets with action verbs followed by quantifiable outcomes (e.g., "launched X campaign driving 200% increase in signups") makes your contributions clear and compelling. Avoid vague phrases like "helped with projects," which don’t convey your actual value. Keeping the resume format clean and easy to scan is another crucial factor. Recruiters typically spend only seconds reviewing each resume. Using a simple one-page layout with clear headings and spacing ensures your most important information is noticed. While colorful or heavily designed resumes might seem creative, clarity and readability always trump visual embellishments. In addition, the summary section, though sometimes debated, can be a strategic place to include keywords relevant to your desired role. This can improve your chances of passing automated applicant tracking systems and emphasizes your alignment with the job at a glance. The OCR text from the resume image suggests using key skills, education, and experience sections systematically, which aligns with best practices. Including a concise list of core competencies and certifications can complement your work history effectively. Consider using templates from trusted sources like Canva to strike a balance between professionalism and simplicity. Lastly, continuously refining your resume based on feedback and responses helps you optimize for maximum results. By implementing these tips, you can transform your resume from overlooked to highly effective, increasing your callbacks and advancing your career in product marketing.
