How to Cutout and Outline Without Leaving the App!

I saw a few tutorials on how to do this, but most of them included using canva. I’m lazy so I’m not doing all that 😂. I also feel like this might be a hidden tool people haven’t noticed or learned how to use yet. I hope this helped someone.

Lemon🍋ters unite! We gotta look out for one another as we learn to navigate this new app. Let me know if there’s any cool tricks you’ve learned in the comments.

... Read moreOkay, so now that you've mastered the basic cutout and outline trick in Lemon8, let me share some extra tips I've picked up to really make your photos pop! This feature is such a time-saver, and honestly, it's become one of my go-to tools for creating eye-catching posts. First off, choosing your 'base photo' is key. I’ve noticed that photos with a clear subject and a somewhat contrasting background tend to give the best results when you tap 'Remove background'. Don't get discouraged if the first try isn't perfect; sometimes, just picking a slightly different angle or background for your original photo can make a huge difference. Think about how the app's AI might interpret the edges – cleaner lines mean a cleaner cutout! Once you've got your perfect cutout, the 'Add border' option is where the real fun begins. While the article shows a white border, did you know you can often experiment with different border colors or even thicknesses in some versions of the app, or at least use the white as a base for further layering? I love using a bold white outline to make my subject stand out against a busy background, or a subtle color that complements my overall aesthetic. It instantly elevates a simple photo into something more artistic and polished. Now, for a super practical 'bonus tip' that I wish I knew earlier! The article mentioned clicking the 'clock icon' to access 'previously created stickers'. This is gold! It means every time you go through the 'Stickers' -> 'Customize' process and create a cutout, it's saved for future use. I literally have a library of my most-used cutouts – my face, my favorite coffee cup, even my dog – ready to be dropped into any post. This saves so much time compared to re-doing the process every single time. It’s like having your own personal sticker collection right within Lemon8! Beyond just making individual photos look good, these cutout and outline stickers are fantastic for creating collages directly in the app. I often layer a few outlined cutouts over a solid color background or even another photo to create a dynamic visual story. Imagine a travel post where you have a cutout of yourself outlined against a beautiful landmark, then another cutout of a local dish outlined next to it – it’s so engaging! Another way I use this is for creating unique text backgrounds. I’ll make a cutout of an object, add an outline, and then place it strategically so I can add text next to or even slightly overlapping it. It adds depth and visual interest that a flat image just can't achieve. So, next time you're thinking about using an external app like Canva for a simple cutout, remember this built-in Lemon8 trick. It’s faster, keeps your workflow smooth, and with these extra tips, you'll be creating stunning, professional-looking visuals in no time. Happy editing, Lemon8 fam!
