Not like I needed a new hobby, but lately I’ve been AI obsessed. Researching it, trying different apps and software. Creating (and paying for 🤦🏽♀️) accounts on nearly every Ai site so I could test it against others. I’m literally fascinated. I created the images you see in this post in Midjourney. It’s my fave for realism.
What are your thoughts on Ai? I can understand peoples apprehension and fears, but at the same time I think it’s important to live in the world realistically. Many are scared it will take jobs. The sad part is, it most definitely will because we live in a world that values profit over all else so Ai is not going anywhere. It will only advance from here. My personal opinion is that the best thing we can all do is train ourselves in prompting because Ai can’t prompt itself.
I honestly look at Ai as the new internet. People were afraid of the internet at first too. I can’t wait to see where Ai goes, but I do hope it’s used responsibly.
... Read moreI totally get the obsession! When I first stumbled into the world of AI art, especially with tools like Midjourney, it felt like unlocking a secret superpower. The ability to conjure up images from pure imagination, and make them look so incredibly real, is truly mind-blowing. If you're like me and have been captivated by the stunning visuals AI can create, you might be wondering how to get started or improve your own creations.
Getting started with Midjourney might seem a bit daunting at first, especially since it operates within Discord. But trust me, it's simpler than it looks! First, you'll need a Discord account and then join the official Midjourney server. Once you're in, you can head over to one of the 'newbie' channels. The magic begins with the /imagine command. Just type /imagine followed by your prompt, and watch the AI bring your words to life. A simple prompt could be something like: /imagine a majestic fluffy cat sitting on a windowsill, hyperrealistic, golden hour lighting.
For crafting those ultra-realistic images, which is often where Midjourney truly shines, there are a few tricks I've picked up. It's not just about what you want to see, but how you want to see it. Think about adding descriptive keywords like 'photorealistic,' 'cinematic lighting,' '8k ultra detailed,' or even specifying camera lenses like 'shot on a Canon R5, 50mm lens.' Experimenting with different versions of Midjourney (like --v 6 or --v 5.2 for earlier versions known for realism) and using --style raw can significantly enhance the realistic aesthetic. Don't be afraid to iterate; if the first four images aren't quite right, hit that 'V' button to get variations or 'U' to upscale your favorite, then refine your prompt based on what you see.
This is where prompt engineering truly becomes an art form. It's what separates a basic image from a masterpiece, and it's why I resonate so much with the idea of being a 'prompt queen,' as highlighted by handles like @thepromptqueen.ai. Learning to communicate effectively with the AI is a skill in itself. It's about understanding how the AI interprets words, what details it prioritizes, and how to use parameters to guide its creativity. Learning from others' successful prompts, dissecting them, and then applying those lessons to your own ideas is a fantastic way to grow. Experiment with negative prompts (--no blurry, --no watermark) to tell the AI what you don't want, and play with prompt weights (::) to emphasize certain elements.
My personal journey with AI art has taught me patience and the power of endless creativity. It's not just about getting the perfect image on the first try; it's about the iterative process, the discovery, and the joy of seeing your imagination materialize. The Midjourney community on Discord is also an incredible resource for inspiration and learning. We’re really just at the beginning of this AI revolution, and while conversations about its impact on jobs are important, I believe embracing and understanding these tools responsibly is our best path forward. So, dive in, experiment, and unleash your inner AI artist!
