Leopard Print and Cat Eye

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to dive deeper into how I achieve these gorgeous leopard print and glittery cat eye nails. When I first started doing my nails at home, I found that prep is absolutely key for a long-lasting manicure. Before applying any products, I always gently push back my cuticles, buff the nail surface lightly, and then cleanse thoroughly with alcohol to ensure there are no oils. This really helps with adhesion, especially for dip powder and gel. For my base, I opted for dip powder on my pointer and pinky fingers. I love how durable dip powder is, and it gives a beautiful, smooth finish. If you're new to dip, remember to apply thin layers of base coat, dip quickly, and tap off the excess powder before activating. It takes a little practice, but it's so worth it for the strength it adds to my nails – especially my long, almond-shaped ones! Now, for the star of the show: the leopard print! I used foils from the dip powder kit to create the initial spots on my middle finger. My trick is to press the foil lightly onto a tacky layer (either a dip base coat or even a thin layer of gel top coat before curing) and then quickly peel it off. This creates those imperfect, organic shapes that are perfect for leopard spots. The real magic happens when you outline them. I used a fine-tip brush and black gel polish. Don't worry about making them perfectly round; slightly irregular shapes look more natural. I often add a few smaller, partial spots around the edges too. Next up, the mesmerizing cat eye effect! I applied a silver cat eye gel to my thumb and ring finger. The key to that stunning, shifting glittery effect is a magnet. After applying the cat eye gel (don't cure it yet!), hold the magnet close to your nail for about 5-10 seconds. You'll see the glitter particles gather, creating that signature line or curve. You can play around with different magnet placements to get a straight line, a diagonal, or even an S-shape. Once you're happy, cure it immediately! To add a unique twist, I topped the cat eye nails with a custom jelly brown. I simply mixed a light brown gel polish with a generous amount of clear top coat. This creates a beautiful translucent layer that softens the silver cat eye and gives it a warm, autumnal glow, complementing the solid orange base I had on some nails. For those of you who want to try some of the "orange leopard nails" or "red cat eye leopard print nails" I've seen in searches, you could easily swap out the brown jelly for a sheer orange or even a deep red! Imagine a vibrant red cat eye peeking through an ombre leopard print – so chic! Or for a summer cheetah print nails look, maybe a bright yellow cat eye with black cheetah spots. Don't forget a good quality top coat for all your nails to seal everything in and add that glossy finish. I always cure my top coat thoroughly to prevent chipping. I've found that this combination of dip powder for strength and gel polish for intricate designs gives me the best of both worlds.
