Low(er) Stim TV - Complete Guide 📺

This one’s for my girls who like to have everything in one convenient place! A compiled list of low(er) stim tv shows and their streaming service!

Before anyone comes for me — yes, I am FULLY aware these don’t tick all the “low stim boxes”. These shows are some of my favorites from growing up, and some new ones that are much less stimulating than the devil that is Cocomelon — but if you let your kids watch Cocomelon… we listen, and we don’t judge! 🫶🏼

These are just some fun options to add into your watch routine, especially if you’re tired of watching the same things over and over with your littles! 🤍

We do limited screen time, but sometimes you gotta cook dinner without a baby on your hip and do what you gotta do! 🤷🏻‍♀️

With increasing concerns about overstimulation from fast-paced cartoons and bright graphics, it is vital to select programs that offer a more relaxing environment. In addition to favorites like 'Bluey' and 'Sesame Street', platforms like Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime offer several options that align with low-stimulation criteria such as slower pacing, muted color palettes, and gentle sound effects. Shows should ideally feature minimal rapid movements and abrupt audio changes to foster a more peaceful watching experience. Examples of such programming include 'The Berenstain Bears', 'Maisy Mouse', and 'Blue's Clues', which not only entertain but also stimulate learning in a stress-free manner. When curating your watchlist, consider factors such as the show's intention to educate while being aesthetically pleasurable for young viewers. The right balance of content can help in maintaining focus and encouraging imaginative play without overwhelming them. By prioritizing low-stim options, you can create a healthier screen time routine that benefits both you and your children.
