unpopular opinions: mom edition
some of my unpopular opinions as a mom 😅
1) kids don’t need to spend hours doing lessons or classes. kids learn so much during unstructured play time. Kids are meant to play, not to sit and listen to lessons for hours.
2) car seat safety shouldn’t be option. I’ve seen parents not use straps correctly, not install the seats properly, read face too early, and even knowing the consequences they don’t care. I’m not one to judge other parents but when it comes to car seat safety, I think parents need to be held accountable for knowingly doing unsafe things.

As a parent, it's common to feel overwhelmed by societal expectations regarding childrearing. One key insight is that children need ample time for unstructured play, which fosters creativity and independent problem-solving. Numerous studies have shown that excessive structured activities can lead to burnout in children, resulting in stress rather than joyful learning experiences. Encouraging kids to play freely allows them to explore their surroundings and learn at their own pace, crucial for their development. Additionally, discussions around car seat safety highlight the importance of accountability in parenting. Many parents remain unaware of or ignore the guidelines necessary for proper car seat use. Consistently using the correct straps, ensuring seats are properly installed, and understanding the timelines for usage can greatly reduce the risk of injury in accidents. As advocates of child safety, parents should equip themselves with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions regarding car seat regulation, thereby setting prime examples for their children. Prioritizing these aspects of parenting not only serves children’s immediate safety but also instills lifelong values of care and responsibility.

Car seat safety drives me crazy! Some people don’t even try when it’s so obviously wrong.
