Cute mini Project 💙
Heloooo
I’m back at it again with a tiny hand sewing project.
I like a hand sewing small projects like this, it doesn’t aggravate the carpel tunnel too much when I go slow.
I saw some cute stuffed hair accessories from the Angelic Pretty brand (find them on lolibrary) and I wanted something cute too. I’m planning to make candy shaped ones like what the brand has but I opted to start with an easy to make shape. Adding the felt back was super easy too.
I would change a little bit with the pattern next time. I don’t think the heart part is deep enough . But making the pattern myself and sewing everything together was fun!
I love mini projects and more to come. Maybe I can start planning some new ones with all the fabrics I have.
Hey everyone! I wanted to share a little more about why I absolutely adore taking on small hand sewing projects, especially when life gets a bit hectic or my hands need a gentler approach. You know, sometimes a big project can feel overwhelming, but a mini creative project? That’s pure joy and satisfaction in a compact package! For me, hand sewing has become a fantastic way to relax and manage discomfort, like my carpal tunnel, by going at a slower, more deliberate pace. It’s not just about the finished item; it’s about the meditative process of creating something with your own hands. Plus, these small projects are perfect for using up those lovely fabric scraps we all have piling up – like the light blue polka dot fabric I used for my heart! Instead of letting them gather dust, you can transform them into something beautiful and useful. If you're curious about diving into small hand sewing, you really don’t need much to start. I usually grab a sharp needle, some coordinating thread, a pair of fabric scissors, and of course, my fabric scraps. Having a pink cutting mat can be super handy for protecting your surfaces and getting accurate cuts, but it's not strictly necessary for a first-timer. For stuffed items like my heart accessory, you'll also need a bit of poly-fil stuffing. I found that adding a felt backing, like I did for my heart, gives it a really clean and professional finish, especially when attaching things like a silver alligator clip. Beyond hair accessories, the world of mini creative projects is vast! You could try making cute little keychains, decorative patches for your clothes, tiny pin cushions (always useful!), or even small pouches for coins or earbuds. Imagine little felt ornaments for holidays or personalized bookmarks. Each one is a chance to experiment with a new heart pattern or a different fabric texture. I often look at brands like Angelic Pretty for inspiration, not to copy, but to spark ideas for my own unique creations. Sometimes, just seeing a pretty ruffled lace trim can inspire a whole new design! When I’m planning a new piece, I usually sketch out a simple pattern first. For my heart, I realized later I wanted the heart shape to be a bit deeper, so don't be afraid to adjust your patterns as you go – that's part of the fun of DIY! For stitching, a simple running stitch or a whip stitch around the edges is usually all you need for these types of projects. The beauty is in the simplicity and the personal touch you add. Don't worry about perfection; focus on the enjoyment of the process and the satisfaction of creating something uniquely yours. It’s so rewarding to see a piece of fabric transform into a 'Completed Mini-Project' right before your eyes!
