Entering the world of theatre as a Black college student in Louisiana brought a mixture of excitement and challenges that shaped my academic and personal growth. Balancing the demanding curriculum with the desire to express cultural identity was often a complex journey. I connected deeply with classic and contemporary works, including influences from iconic figures like Michael Jackson, whose artistry inspired my performances. Throughout my college years, I encountered moments where representation felt scarce, pushing me to advocate for more inclusive spaces within the theatre community. These experiences not only strengthened my resilience but also enriched my understanding of storytelling through diverse perspectives. Graduating and entering what I call my "Invincible era" symbolizes a turning point where I embrace my past experiences while confidently stepping into new opportunities. Sharing my story aims to highlight the importance of diversity in the arts and encourage others facing similar paths to pursue their passions unapologetically. The intersection of college life, theatre, and identity in Louisiana continues to inspire me, and I look forward to contributing to a more inclusive cultural landscape.
