Ohmygosh this book 😍 It was too short and I want more.
Peter Pan? Winnie (Wendy’s great-great granddaughter)? The lost boys? All grown up! And hot 🥵
I have never been a fan of Disney retellings, but this one I can get behind! I did see some things coming in this book (pun intended 😁) but the ending took me for a loop. This is the perfect amount of plot and $mut and I am here for it.
I can’t wait for the next one!

If you love reimagined fairy tales with a dark and romantic twist, The Never King by Nikki St. Crowe is definitely a must-read. This book not only explores the nostalgia of Peter Pan but also delves into what happens when those familiar characters grow up—adding layers of complexity and adult themes that traditional retellings often avoid. What I personally found captivating about this novel is how it balances the magical allure of Neverland with the gritty realities of adulthood. The lost boys, once carefree and youthful, now face internal battles and power struggles that make the story feel both epic and intimate. The heroine, Winnie, as Wendy’s great-great granddaughter, bridges the past and present, giving readers a new perspective on the age-old story. One standout feature of this book is the author’s bold approach to romance and sensuality, which definitely adds a unique flavor. The mix of suspense, dark romance, and emotional depth keeps you hooked and eagerly turning pages. Despite some predictable moments, the unexpected ending delivers a satisfying twist that makes the entire journey worthwhile. For those hesitant about dark retellings or steamy plotlines, this book might just change your mind. The Never King invites readers into a world where childhood fantasies meet mature conflicts, creating a blend that feels fresh and exciting. Plus, the buzz on platforms like #booktok and #lemon8bookclub indicates a growing fanbase that appreciates this genre. In summary, The Never King is perfect for readers looking for a dark romance with a fairy tale backbone. It’s short but impactful, leaving you wanting more and eagerly awaiting the next installment. If you enjoy stories where beloved characters take on unexpected new roles, this is one to add to your reading list.
