String of Hearts 💕
Just got these beauties in the mail. I love ordering plants through Etsy supporting small businesses and getting surprises in the mail 💌I’ve had these once before and totally failed. Advice is definitely welcomed. These are so beautiful when they are big!
Having had my fair share of experience with the String of Hearts (Ceropegia woodii), I can definitely relate to the challenges that come with nurturing these delicate plants. They are stunning when fully grown, with their cascading vines and heart-shaped leaves that add a lovely decorative touch to any space. However, getting them to thrive requires understanding a few key care principles. Firstly, String of Hearts prefers bright, indirect light—too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light will stunt growth. When I received mine from a small Etsy shop, they arrived in good condition but it was clear that replicating ideal indoor light conditions was crucial. I found placing mine near an east or west-facing window worked best. Watering is another area where many beginners struggle. These plants are succulents and need well-draining soil with watering only when the top inch of soil is dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot. In my experience, watering once every 10 to 14 days is usually sufficient, though it varies with your home's humidity and temperature. Feeding with a diluted succulent fertilizer during the growing season can promote health and growth. Also, String of Hearts responds well to occasional pruning to encourage fuller vines and prevent legginess. Propagation is very rewarding too—taking cuttings in water or soil has allowed me to expand my collection and share with friends. Ordering from Etsy has been a wonderful way to support small plant sellers and receive unique varieties. If you’re new to this plant, don’t be discouraged by initial setbacks. With patience and the right environment, watching your String of Hearts mature into a lush, trailing beauty is truly satisfying and well worth the effort.
