This butternut squash soup recipe truly shines with the addition of Lee Kum Kee Premium Chili Crisp, a versatile condiment crafted through a meticulous four-stage slow-frying process that infuses each spoonful with a satisfying crunch and smoky depth. The chili crisp elevates the natural sweetness of the squash and apples by adding layers of complex flavors—smoky, spicy, and slightly savory—making it an irresistible dish especially suited for chilly days. Beyond its taste, this recipe shows the importance of balancing textures and aromas in a cozy soup. The slow-roasted vegetables allow caramelization, enhancing sweetness and depth. Blooming the chili crisp in butter (or coconut oil) unlocks the rich oils and spices, creating a fragrant base. The use of coconut milk adds creaminess without overpowering the palate, while a splash of apple cider vinegar brightens the flavors. The recipe also includes a creative topping: chili-crisp croutons, which add crunch and an extra layer of flavor. Tossing sourdough cubes with sesame oil and Lee Kum Kee’s smoky chili crisp before baking results in golden, aromatic croutons that contrast beautifully with the velvety soup. For those interested in experimenting, Lee Kum Kee offers a trio of chili crisp flavors—Smoky, Cilantro, and Original—which can diversify the flavor profile and inspire new holiday creations. Using chili crisp in other holiday dishes, such as roasted vegetables or dipping sauces, can similarly add excitement and warmth. This soup perfectly captures the essence of comfort food amplified with gourmet ingredients, ideal for seasonal gatherings or simply enjoying a comforting meal at home. Incorporating specialty ingredients like Lee Kum Kee's chili crisp reflects a growing trend in home cooking toward global flavors and artisanal products, making this recipe both accessible and trendy.
