Study Techniques and Methods Part VII
Created by Francesco Cirillo, a university student, in the late 1980s. He used a tomato shaped kitchen timer to space out his study sessions.
Fun fact: the word pomodoro means tomato in Italian. I think that is the cutest name he could have come up with. Some people name things after themselves or what the technique does, but he named it after the kitchen timer.
Step 1 - set a timer for 25 minutes
Step 2 - Work until the timer goes out
Step 3 - Take a 5 minute break
Step 4 - After 4 pomodori, take a 15 to 30 minute break (DO NOT skip this part. It is very important. It needs to be longer than the break on step 3).
Many different ratios which include: 25/5 30/4 20/20 60/15 45/15 The one shown above is a 25/5.
