Broadway St & Bourbon St in 24 HOURS?!
We took our kids to both Bourbon St AND Broadway St within 24 hours 😅
While it wasn’t ✨completely✨ kid friendly it was still a lot of fun! They both had a blast dancing and singing and listening to all the music!
Overall, I enjoyed my time on Broadway more than Bourbon St. I felt it to be a lot more kid friendly and WAY CLEANER! There were ice cream shops, more restaurants, and the souvenir stores didn’t have nearly as many inappropriate gifts. I also felt like even though there were still a few random wanders walking the streets they atleast were clothed and less grabby than Bourbon St!
Although we had fun on these trips I don’t think we will be cramming it all into 24 hours ever again🤣

When we first stepped onto Bourbon Street, especially in the evening, it was exactly what you'd imagine – a truly lively, bustling scene! The air was thick with the infectious sounds of different bands spilling out of every doorway. We heard everything from traditional jazz to upbeat cover songs, creating an incredible, constant soundtrack for the night. The vibrant neon signs were absolutely dazzling, lighting up the entire street and drawing big, energetic crowds of people. It was an energy unlike anything else, truly a unique experience for the senses. Navigating that bustling Bourbon Street with two young boys was definitely an adventure. The crowd was dense, particularly as the evening progressed, but everyone seemed to be in good spirits, enjoying the moment. We saw people dancing right in the street, completely immersed in the vibrant atmosphere. For families considering a visit, I'd say going earlier in the evening is key if you want to soak in some of the live music without getting too overwhelmed by the later night crowds. We managed to find spots where we could stand safely and listen to a band for a few minutes, allowing the boys to dance along, which they absolutely loved! One thing that really stood out was the sheer variety of live music. You could walk a block and hear a soulful blues band, then turn a corner and be met with a raucous rock group. Each establishment had its own distinct flavor, and it was fascinating to just soak it all in. My youngest even got a beaded necklace, which was a fun little souvenir he proudly wore, adding to his excitement from the lively street. While I mentioned in my original post that it wasn't completely kid-friendly, we focused on the positive aspects like the incredible music and the unique visual spectacle that Bourbon Street offers. The crowds truly added to the overall energy, making it feel like a constant, spontaneous party. We made sure to keep the kids close, of course, but they were absolutely mesmerized by all the sights and sounds – the street performers, the brightly lit balconies, and that constant hum of live music. It's an unforgettable sensory overload! If you're wondering what the Bourbon Street live music crowd is like, it's eclectic, high-energy, and a true representation of New Orleans' spirited culture. Just be prepared for a vibrant, sometimes intense, atmosphere. We found that taking breaks in quieter side streets or popping into a shop helped manage the intensity for the little ones. It's truly a place where music is woven into the very fabric of the city, and even for a short family visit, it provided memories we won't soon forget, especially that incredible live music pulsing through the streets.

Kids should not go to Bourbon Street. I don’t need to go there.
