why am I like this…
DC: @Zoe Baptiste but with a twang 😭
As a mom, I've often found myself living the exact cycle described by the phrase "my kids all day vs me after they go to sleep." During the day, my energy is poured into keeping up with their endless activities, from meals and play to homework and emotions. It's a nonstop whirlwind that leaves me mentally and physically drained. But once bedtime hits and the house finally quiets down, I experience a sudden shift. That peaceful silence feels like a reward, a rare moment to recharge and reflect on the day. This contrast is something many parents can relate to—balancing the vibrant chaos of children with the treasured solitude that comes afterward. It’s also a time when I sometimes rediscover parts of myself that got buried during the hectic hours. Whether it’s enjoying a quiet cup of tea, watching a favorite show, or just sitting still, these moments help me reset for the challenges ahead. Acknowledging this daily rhythm has helped me embrace the ups and downs of mom life more fully. Sometimes, feeling overwhelmed or questioning “why am I like this…” is part of the journey, and connecting with others through shared experiences—like those funny dance trends on TikTok tagged #momlife and #relatable—makes the ride a little easier. Ultimately, these moments remind me that while motherhood is demanding, it’s also filled with love, growth, and plenty of reasons to laugh.
