it comes in waves & i drown.

just 6 out of endless dates my world stopped turning.

3/13 Edited to

... Read moreGrief is a profound and unpredictable journey, one that often arrives in overwhelming waves, much like what many people experience on significant dates that mark loss or change. From personal experience, I’ve found that these dates—memorialized in the image timestamps—are not just reminders but triggers that reopen old wounds, making it feel as if the world momentarily stops. The phrase "time heals grief" is often repeated, but in reality, healing doesn’t mean forgetting. Instead, it’s learning to live alongside grief and sometimes drowning momentarily in sorrow, only to resurface. Each anniversary of a loved one’s departure or a pivotal event can bring a different layer of emotion. For example, dates like 9/11/04 or 6/13/18 may symbolize moments when significant losses occurred, causing a heavy emotional toll. What has helped me cope is accepting that grief doesn’t follow a linear path. It comes in waves: sudden, unexpected, and sometimes exhausting. Allowing myself to feel these emotions without judgment has been crucial. Writing about these feelings or sharing them with trusted friends can provide comfort and understanding. Additionally, creating new rituals to honor those lost during these tough dates helps transform pain into a meaningful remembrance. Understanding that everyone’s grief journey is unique can also foster compassion—not only towards ourselves but those around us who are silently struggling. It is important to remember that while "time heals," it also reveals the depth of love and memories that continue to exist. Embracing these complex emotions can be the first step towards genuine healing and resilience.

He calms the Storms
He walks where fear says you’ll drown. He stands where the storm says you’ll fall. And still… He calls you forward. You don’t need calm waters to trust Him— you just need faith to take the next step. The waves don’t win. The storm doesn’t decide your ending. Jesus already did.
