How i edit dreamy effect using @lightroom mobile

2024/11/21 Edited to

... Read moreEver wondered how to transform your everyday photos into captivating, dreamy works of art right from your phone? I've been experimenting with Lightroom Mobile, and I'm excited to share my go-to techniques for achieving that soft, ethereal look using just a few key sliders. It’s all about understanding how each adjustment contributes to the overall mood of your picture. Let's dive into the 'Light' panel first, as this is where we control the fundamental brightness and tone. My first step is usually to tweak the Exposure. For a dreamy effect, I often aim for a slightly brighter, almost overexposed look, but it’s a delicate balance; you don't want to lose detail in your highlights. Next, Contrast is crucial. Instead of boosting it for a punchy image, I often reduce it slightly. This softens the transitions between light and dark areas, which instantly contributes to that gentle, dreamy feel. Then, I pay close attention to Highlights and Shadows. I like to pull down the Highlights to recover any blown-out areas, while often lifting the Shadows to reveal details in darker parts and create a slightly flatter, faded aesthetic that’s characteristic of many dreamy edits. Finally, adjusting Whites and Blacks helps define the image without adding harshness. Pushing up the Whites can add a soft glow, and sometimes lifting the Blacks a tiny bit can further enhance that faded, cinematic vibe. Moving onto the 'Color' panel is where the magic truly unfolds for setting the mood. The Temperature and Tint sliders are incredibly powerful. For a warm, inviting dreamy look, I often shift the Temperature slightly towards yellow/orange and the Tint towards magenta. This creates a beautiful, soft glow, much like a sunset or a warm filter. Conversely, a cooler temperature can evoke a serene, misty dream. Vibrance and Saturation are next. I usually boost Vibrance slightly to make colors pop subtly without over-saturating, and sometimes even reduce overall Saturation a tiny bit for a more subdued, pastel-like dreamscape. Don't forget the individual color mixer, where you can adjust the Hue, Saturation, and Luminance of specific colors. For instance, if I want to enhance a golden hour glow, I might boost the Luminance and Saturation of the oranges and yellows, as indicated by the 'Colour' parameters in my editing process. If my image features a lot of distracting greens, I might desaturate them slightly to keep the focus on my subject. One of the most transformative tools, though, is the Curves panel. This gives you incredibly precise control over the tonal range. By gently lifting the bottom-left point of the curve (the black point), you can create that popular 'faded blacks' look, which is a hallmark of many dreamy edits. A subtle S-curve can also add soft contrast without making the image look harsh. Remember those 'Basic Adjustment & Colour parameters' I mentioned? Things like Texture, Clarity, and Dehaze in the 'Effects' panel can also play a role. For a dreamy effect, I often reduce these slightly to soften the overall image and remove any harshness or digital crispness, making the scene feel more ethereal and painterly. My biggest advice is to experiment! Every photo is different, and the 'dreamy' effect can vary widely. Start with these guidelines for exposure, contrast, color temperature, and curves, but then play around until you find a look that speaks to you. Happy editing!
