💰 Is Overtime: Blessing or Burnout?🤔
Ya’ll my job doesn’t offer OT! 😥🤯Which is such a bummer in today’s economy. 🥴 Living paycheck to paycheck has become the new norm, and sometimes it feels like no matter how much you budget, it’s just not enough. I’ve been seriously considering picking up a PRN or part-time gig just to make ends meet. It’s wild to think how much easier life would be if jobs offered even a little overtime! Most jobs do, but what about the ones who don’t ?!🙇🏽♀️🤔
We’re only allowed to clock in 5 minutes early!! Which adds up to a whopping 0.80 hrs a OT a week 😅.
⏱️Does your job offer overtime, or do you have a side hustle to fill the gap? 👀

In today's economy, many workers face the challenge of living paycheck to paycheck, which can make overtime opportunities a crucial factor in financial security. However, not all employers offer substantial overtime, leaving some employees struggling to find ways to increase their income. For instance, some jobs only allow minimal early clock-in time, translating into very little overtime — like just 0.8 hours weekly — which hardly makes a noticeable difference in take-home pay. Many workers, including nurses, are turning to PRN (pro re nata, or "as needed") shifts as a flexible way to earn extra income. PRN jobs offer the ability to pick up additional work without committing to a full-time schedule, which can be especially helpful for balancing family and personal commitments. Nurses considering PRN roles should look into local healthcare facilities, staffing agencies, or specialized home care services where extra hours or shifts are often available. While overtime and side gigs can provide financial relief, it is also important to consider the risk of burnout. Constantly working long hours or juggling multiple jobs can strain physical and mental health, reducing overall productivity and well-being. Workers should prioritize self-care and set clear boundaries to ensure that extra work does not lead to adverse health outcomes. Side hustles beyond overtime can also diversify income streams. Many people take on freelance work, online gigs, or small entrepreneurial ventures tailored to their skills and interests. These alternatives can offer both flexibility and greater control over earning potential. Ultimately, the decision to work overtime or pursue part-time roles depends on individual circumstances and the job market. Engaging in communities to share experiences, such as forums specifically for healthcare professionals or career advice groups, can provide valuable insights and support for those navigating these challenges.
