... Read moreIf you're anything like me, you're always on the hunt for those hidden natural gems, and Florida's springs totally deliver! I recently had the most amazing time exploring two incredible spots: Rock Springs (inside Kelly Park) and Ichetucknee Springs State Park. Trust me, if you're planning a trip to Florida, these are absolute must-visits, and I'm here to share all my personal tips to make your adventure unforgettable! First up, let's talk about Rock Springs at Kelly Park. My recent trip there was pure magic! It’s like stepping into a natural lazy river with crystal-clear, incredibly refreshing water. The main draw here is the tubing – you can bring your own tube (make sure it's under 5 feet!) or rent one from vendors right outside the park. The current gently carries you down a beautiful run, surrounded by lush greenery. It's not a super long float, but it’s so relaxing, you'll want to do it multiple times. Besides tubing, there are designated swimming areas, perfect for cooling off, and picnic spots if you want to make a day of it. My biggest tip for Rock Springs? GET THERE EARLY! Especially on weekends or holidays, the park fills up fast, and they close the gates once capacity is reached. I found that arriving right when they open (or even a little before) guarantees you a spot and a more peaceful experience. Next on my Florida springs adventure was Ichetucknee Springs State Park, and wow, what a different, yet equally stunning, vibe! This place is famous for its pristine river and multiple spring-fed entry points, making it a dream for tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. What I loved most about Ichetucknee is the sense of untouched nature. The water is unbelievably clear, and you can spot fish, turtles, and sometimes even manatees if you're lucky! For tubing, you have a few options: the North Entrance for a longer, roughly 3-hour float, the Midpoint for about an hour and a half, or the South Entrance if you're just looking for a shorter dip or a place to launch a kayak. My personal recommendation is to start at the North Entrance if you have the time – the journey is so peaceful and picturesque. Just remember, they have strict rules about no disposable items on the river to protect its delicate ecosystem, so pack responsibly! Both parks offer incredible opportunities to connect with nature, but they each have their unique charm. Rock Springs feels a bit more structured and is fantastic for a family-friendly tubing experience, while Ichetucknee offers a more expansive, wilder feel, perfect for longer floats and paddling adventures. Regardless of which you choose (or if you hit both like I did!), remember to bring water shoes – rocky bottoms are no fun for bare feet! A dry bag for your phone and essentials is also a lifesaver. And, of course, plenty of water and reef-safe sunscreen. Exploring these Florida springs has truly been an unforgettable experience, and I can't wait for my next visit. They're definitely some of the best natural wonders I've ever encountered!
