Keeping 13 Book review!

This book tore me apart. I sat in a pool of my own tears for an entire night.

I loved getting to follow more of Johnny and Shannon’s story. They have such a beautiful romance. I love how protective he is and despite her family drama, he never wavers from his love for her. Even when her family shows how against him they are. Like I said in my last review, it is so refreshing seeing such a healthy relationship.

The drama of Shannon’s home life was heart breaking. Her father is a horrible guy, and I can not believe what her family went through. I even started to feel bad for her mother (RIP). Johnnys family is so amazing! By far my favorite parents in the entire season.

... Read moreHey fellow book lovers! So, you've heard me rave about 'Keeping 13' by Chloe Walsh, and if you're curious about what makes this book an absolute standout, let me dive a little deeper. This isn't just a romance; it's a powerful journey that truly earns its 'My new fav series' title, especially as the second installment in the incredible Boys of Tommen series. For those wondering 'what's Keeping 13 about' or searching for a 'Keeping 13 book summary,' let me set the scene without giving away too many spoilers. This novel continues the story of Johnny Kavanagh and Shannon Lynch, picking up right after the events of 'Binding 13.' While the first book beautifully lays the foundation of their burgeoning love, 'Keeping 13' plunges them into deeper emotional waters. Shannon's challenging home life takes center stage, and her resilience in the face of adversity is truly heartbreaking and inspiring. You see how deeply the trauma from her family impacts her, and how fiercely Johnny stands by her side, despite the immense pressure from her own family. It’s a testament to unwavering loyalty and love. In terms of 'Keeping 13 genre,' this book firmly sits in the Young Adult (YA) Contemporary Romance category, with strong elements of Sports Romance due to Johnny's rugby career. But honestly, it transcends typical genre classifications by tackling heavy themes like domestic abuse, mental health struggles, and the complexities of finding your family outside of blood relatives. Chloe Walsh masterfully weaves these difficult subjects into a love story that feels incredibly real and raw. Many of you might be asking, 'do Shannon and Johnny break up in Keeping 13?' Without spoiling key plot points, I can tell you that their relationship faces significant trials. Their path is far from easy, but what makes their connection so compelling – and why I give it a resounding 5-star rating – is how they navigate these challenges together. Johnny's protective nature, as I mentioned in my review, isn't possessive; it's born from a deep love and understanding of Shannon's needs. Their communication, even when imperfect, and their commitment to each other, truly shine. It's a relationship built on trust and mutual support, which is so refreshing to read. If you're thinking about diving into the 'Boys of Tommen' series, I highly recommend starting with 'Binding 13' to get the full scope of Johnny and Shannon's story. 'Keeping 13' is a substantial novel, often ranging from 600-800 pages, offering a rich narrative experience that allows for deep character development and exploration of their world. It’s the kind of book you lose yourself in, feeling every triumph and heartbreak alongside the characters. The reader reception for 'Keeping 13' consistently highlights its emotional depth and the unforgettable connection between its protagonists, and for good reason! If you're looking for a book that will make you feel everything, this is it.
