Taking a break from socials

Right now other than lemon8 I am taking a break from all social media. It’s been awesome honestly. I highly recommend getting rid of the toxic social media that impacts our mental health negatively.

Many people experience feelings of anxiety, stress, or even depression triggered by constant exposure to negative or unrealistic content on social platforms. By consciously unplugging, users can reclaim their time and focus on real-life interactions, mindfulness, and hobbies that foster greater happiness. When you take a break from social media, you create space to reflect on what truly matters without the distractions of endless notifications and comparisons. It’s important to distinguish between toxic social media usage and positive online communities that provide support and inspiration. For instance, platforms like Lemon8 offer a more authentic sharing environment where users can find meaningful content related to lifestyle, wellness, and creativity. Moreover, a deliberate phone break encourages healthier habits. You might find yourself sleeping better since you avoid late-night scrolling, or exercising more frequently due to fewer digital interruptions. Studies have shown that reducing social media use for even a short time can significantly lower stress hormones and improve mood. Remember, the goal isn't complete disconnection but rather mindful use. Setting boundaries, such as designated no-phone hours or deleting apps that negatively affect your mental state, helps maintain balance. Engaging with nourishing content and communities promotes emotional well-being, while stepping back from toxicity prevents burnout. Embracing a phone and social media break is a personal journey, and it’s okay to start small. Try it out for a day, a weekend, or longer—it’s amazing how refreshing it feels to be present without digital noise. Your mental health deserves this care, and many have found that a little distance from the digital world leads to greater clarity, happiness, and peace.

I feel you. I try to stay away from the news and other social outlets. Its a tight line between being educated on current issues and being overwhelmed by social media. #girlpov
