I am withdrawing from university to go to CC.
☆So, I had dropped out of university last fall and finally made the decision to go back to school this fall! I enrolled at a sister university to my old one, and while I have found a way to loveeee college, my current Uni is expensive and my major isn’t what I actually want to pursue!
🫀I want to be a nurse and at my first Uni I was a pre-nursing major, but when I transferred my advisors advised me to ease in with something “more attainable”, so I switched to education. My classes are fun and relatively easy but the longer I am in them, the more I realize that this isn’t what I want. I have decided to finish out this semester and then switch to CC for the spring sem!
💘My CC offers a nursing associates degree for 10 grand and it is eligible to be entirely covered by a local hospital if we sign on to be employed with them post grad.
👍Pros: The program is short! The program can possibly be free. There are plenty of options of other programs if you don’t get accepted into the RN one right away! Ex. LPN, CNA, MA, etc. I will finally be pursuing my real dream 😊
🤔Cons: it is a selectiveeee program! I will have to take the TEAs by April, so I have to study hard and fast! 📚 It is very time intensive and will require me to cut my hours at work, thankfully I have a very supportive boyfriend ❤️
☆Overall: I am so excited for this new chapter of my life and my current goal is to keep my GPA and grades up to finish out this semester. I meet with a recruiter on Monday (10/14) and I am so excited to see what this will all actually entail!

Transferring from university to community college (CC) can present students with unique challenges and opportunities. Many students grapple with the decision of whether to continue in a costly university program or seek alternatives that can better align with their career goals. In recent years, nursing has become a highly sought-after profession with a growing demand for skilled healthcare workers, making nursing programs at community colleges increasingly attractive. Community colleges often offer more accessible tuition rates and provide tailored programs designed to help students achieve their career ambitions without the financial burden of a traditional university. Many CCs, like the one mentioned in this article, have partnerships with local hospitals, ensuring a smooth transition into the workforce upon graduation. It's important for students considering this switch to research the nursing programs available, including prerequisites and competitive entry requirements, such as the TEAS exams. Time management and support systems, including understanding from family and partners while balancing work and study, can also significantly affect success in this intensive educational path. As this change in direction unfolds, focusing on maintaining academic performance is essential. Creating a balanced schedule that prioritizes study time while managing job responsibilities can set students up for success in their new endeavors. Ultimately, the decision to switch from university to community college represents a courageous step toward fulfilling one’s dreams. Through careful planning, determination, and the right support, aspiring nurses can excel in their education and emerge ready to make a difference in healthcare.

I am a LPN. Went to CC for my LPN. I had to take the HESI. Currently working on my RN. I am grateful to the LPN program. I learned a lot of valuable skills and knowledge from my LPN. I had amazing instructors. Good luck on your nursing journey!
