My E-Reader Collection!
I’ll admit having 4 readers seems a bit crazy but I use them ALL🩷 I decided to do an informative post on the specs and my personal pros and cons of each! ✨
🤍 Starting with the Boox Palma
I put all specs for this one in my last post so go check out my unboxing for that.
👍🏼Pros
✅ The Size! While the display is a little smaller than my iPhone the device as a whole is the same size as an iPhone 13 Pro Max!
✅ The speakers are surprisingly good! I can listen to music, have Alexa read to me, or listen to audiobooks on Libby, hoopla, or audible. I can also sideload audiobooks onto the device!
✅ 3rd party apps! This one is awesome as it means I can download WEBTOON, Manta, Kindle, my library apps, and more! Some books especially some manga I wasn’t able to send to kindle so having an e-ink device capable of running them means less headaches and eye strain!
✅ Custom Wallpapers!
✅ Digital Storage Capacity: 128 GB of internal storage but I also added an additional 512 GB card via micro SD card slot!
✅ Instant Refresh Button means no background ghosting bothers me while reading!
✅ Water Resistant!
✅ A USB -C Charge Port!
✅ Long Lasting Battery!
✅ The Brightness is the brightest I’ve seen on an eReader!
✅ Can use the volume buttons as page turner buttons!
🤔Cons
❌ While I love the size, if you’re looking to consume a large amount of Manga this is a con as some words are just too small. (You can always zoom in however!)
❌ The price tag is a costly, I think it’s worth every penny however I can understand that it may be out of budget for most people!
❌ While it’s advertised as Water Resistant that does not mean it is totally waterproof.
❌ Your limited in color options, either black or white!
❌ There’s no accessories for the Palma other than a case made by Boox themselves! In addition finding a matte screen protector is hard! (I made one out of a screen protector I had sitting around for a larger kindle.

Plus, the ability to sideload audiobooks and use library apps like Libby and Hoopla means I'm never short on new reads, often completely free! If you're into 'allfreeromance' or any genre, exploring your local library's digital offerings through these apps is a treasure trove. You can borrow bestsellers, niche titles, and yes, countless romance novels, without spending a dime. It's a fantastic way to keep your reading habit going strong without breaking the bank. Then there are my Kindles. My Paperwhite 4 is my rugged, go-to travel companion. It’s waterproof, so I don’t worry about spills by the pool while I'm engrossed in a fantasy saga like 'Kingdom of the Feared'. The Paperwhite 5 SE, with its larger screen and USB-C, is fantastic for longer reading sessions at home, especially for those epic fantasy series like 'Iron Flame' that demand a good display. And my Kindle Oasis 3? That's my luxury pick. The page-turn buttons and ergonomic design make it a dream for single-handed reading, even if its battery isn't stellar. Choosing an e-reader isn't just about specs; it's about your lifestyle. Do you read by the pool? A waterproof Paperwhite is a must. Are you an avid manga reader? The Boox Palma or even a larger Kindle might be better. Do you want to access library books and free content easily? Look for devices that support library apps or allow sideloading. Don't forget accessories too! While finding a matte screen protector for specific models like the Palma can be tricky (I had to get creative!), a good case is essential for protecting your literary investment. Ultimately, my collection allows me to tailor my reading experience. Whether I'm listening to an audiobook on my Palma, diving into a romance novel from Libby on my Paperwhite, or enjoying a graphic novel, there's a device perfectly suited for the moment.
