It’s a housing CRISIS baby
My family of 5 went from renting a 3 bedroom 2 bath house with a fenced in garage to living in one bedroom at my in-laws house.
Imagine this…
You’ve been fighting with your landlord (of 2 years) to fix your plumbing for over a month. You come home from work one day to the most horrendous smell you’ve ever experienced and the water isn’t working. You go to the basement because you know you paid your water bill and see 6-12 inches of sewage everywhere.
Obviously that’s not okay and there is no way you can make your 3 kids or yourselves sleep there that night. So you call your landlord and they say nobody shut off your water and your basement didn’t look like that when they were there the day before. Basically sorry about your bad luck figure it out yourself.
Your husband’s grandma has an extra room (kinda) So you go stay the night there. The next day landlord still won’t fix your house so you can stay there. Leaving you with no other option but to move out.
To make matters worse my brother-in-law, his girlfriend, their daughter, husbands grandma, and husbands mother ALL are living in a 5 bedroom house. Don’t get me wrong I’m so glad to have a place to stay but man…
All of this came about because my landlord ignored maintenance requests and caused blocked plumbing to explode in the basement causing the house to be unlivable.
