2. Adding oil to lotion 🧴
This little hack is genius . It makes your body feel moisturized and last longer. I tend to use a thicker lotion and then add an oil I use castor oil and vitamin E oil to my hands and lather it. It's a base for perfume and it makes me smell so good.
3. Adding perfume to hot spots/ oil or vaseline.
I like to add perfumes on my neck on my palms and in my hair, these spots usually carry the scent longer. I also apply Vaseline or oil to the spots to make the perfume last longer.

... Read moreAs someone who’s always looking for ways to feel my absolute best, I've discovered that true freshness goes beyond just a quick shower. It's a whole routine! The hacks in the original post are fantastic, and I wanted to share some more personal insights and expand on those ideas, especially for us ladies who want to ensure we're feeling confident and smelling amazing from morning to night.
1. Beyond the Basic Wash: The Power of Exfoliation & Quality Cleansing
The original post rightly praises African BLACK SOAP for its deep cleaning properties, and I couldn't agree more! I've found that using a high-quality, antibacterial soap is the foundation. But to truly elevate that clean feeling, incorporating regular exfoliation is a game-changer. Whether it's dry brushing before your shower or using a gentle exfoliating scrub a few times a week, removing dead skin cells not only makes your skin incredibly soft but also prevents odor-causing bacteria from settling in. When my skin is a smooth canvas, I notice my lotions absorb better, and my fragrance really shines through. It's like my skin is prepped to hold onto that freshness longer.
2. Mastering the Art of Scent Layering for Unbelievable Longevity
Making your favorite perfume last isn't just about spritzing it on; it's about building a scent profile! The tip about adding oil to lotion is genius and one of my favorites because moisturized skin holds scent better. I take it a step further by layering. If I have a scented body wash, I'll use that, followed by a matching or complementary scented lotion, and then apply my perfume. For WHERE TO APPLY PERFUME for a longer-lasting scent, I always hit my pulse points (wrists, neck, behind ears), but don't forget the backs of your knees and even a light mist in your hair. The warmth from these areas helps diffuse the scent throughout the day. And if you're like me and love trying new scents, the Scent Box subscription is incredible for discovering travel-sized perfumes that can be perfect for layering or touch-ups on the go!
3. Whole Body Freshness: More Than Just Underarms
The concept of Lume Whole Body Deodorant (or similar aluminum-free options) is something I wish I'd discovered years ago! While traditional deodorant handles the pits, our bodies have other areas that can benefit from targeted freshness. I've found products like Lume are amazing for areas like under the breasts, inner thighs, and even feet. It helps prevent odor before it starts, keeping you feeling truly clean and confident in all situations. For feet, a good foot powder or spray, especially if you wear closed-toe shoes often, can make a huge difference in preventing sweat and odor buildup.
4. Internal Hygiene: What You Eat & Drink Matters!
This is a hack that's often overlooked but incredibly powerful! What you put into your body significantly impacts how you smell *outside*. I've noticed that drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps flush out toxins, leading to a more neutral body scent. Incorporating chlorophyll drops or supplements, or simply eating more leafy greens, can also contribute to a fresher natural scent. And let's not forget oral hygiene! Beyond brushing, daily flossing and tongue scraping are non-negotiables for fresh breath. I even carry a small breath spray for quick refreshers after coffee or meals.
5. The Unsung Heroes: Clean Clothes & Living Spaces
Finally, all these personal hygiene efforts can be undone if your environment isn't clean. Making sure my clothes are always freshly laundered is paramount. I use scented laundry detergents and fabric softeners to ensure my garments carry a pleasant, subtle scent. Regularly changing pillowcases and bedsheets, airing out my wardrobe, and even using room sprays or diffusers in my living space contribute to an overall sense of freshness that makes me feel good from the moment I wake up. It’s all about creating an ecosystem of cleanliness around you!
