... Read moreLiving with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) means that flare-ups can be unpredictable and challenging to handle. From personal experience, incorporating strategies like family quiet time can provide essential rest and reduce sensory overload during difficult periods. Setting emergency screen time plans helps manage energy efficiently without feeling guilty about downtime. Organizing essentials bedside is a lifesaver; having everything within reach prevents unnecessary effort and conserves energy. Outsourcing small tasks whenever possible, such as meal preparation or errands, has made a significant difference in managing my energy reserves. Planning for bad days during good days allows me to batch prep meals and set up reset baskets filled with items like water bottles, medications, and comfort items in every room, so everything is readily available. During flare-ups, sitting while cooking and doing floor stretches with children during playtime enable me to stay engaged without overexertion. Replacing intense workouts with small movements helps maintain circulation and fitness without triggering symptoms. Importantly, I've found that asking for help earlier rather than later prevented crises and fostered a supportive network. Each of these steps, although small, combined to build a daily routine that respects my limits while enhancing quality of life during POTS flares. Sharing these practical tips can empower others to find personalized ways to cope effectively.
