why do we always pack 100x more than we’ll ever need 😂
As someone who has often found themselves lugging around an oversized suitcase for just a couple of days away, I totally relate to the struggle of overpacking. It seems almost instinctual—packing not only the essentials but also every possible outfit or item you might want because you want to be prepared for any situation. For a simple 2-day trip, the temptation to pack excessively is real. You might include multiple shoe options, various outfits for different moods or weather, and lots of toiletries. Sometimes, it’s about the peace of mind that comes with having everything you could imagine needing within reach. However, this often leads to a heavy bag, unnecessary stress, and less mobility. One trick I've learned to keep packing light is to plan outfits that can be mixed and matched and to prioritize versatile items that serve multiple purposes. For example, choosing a jacket that can be dressed up or down, or packing travel-sized toiletries instead of full bottles. Another helpful tip is to lay everything out and then deliberately remove half before zipping your suitcase. A two-day trip usually doesn’t require 100 times more items than you’ll use; often, a couple of outfits and minimal essentials are more than enough. This not only lightens your load but also makes your trip more enjoyable by freeing you from the burden of carrying and managing excess baggage. So, while it’s funny and relatable that we pack so much more than needed, embracing smarter packing habits can transform your travel experience, making it simpler, lighter, and more enjoyable.
