Why I stopped reading the ACOTAR series…

When I first picked up ACOTAR, I was not a part of booktok or any other platform looking at book content. I just happened to wander into my local bookstore, picked it up, and thought it sounded interesting.

I read ACOTAR and it was good so I decided to get ACOMAF. However, whenever I started reading ACOMAF, I found myself very bored and unimpressed with Feyre and Tamlin’s relationship. So, before I made it past chapter 3, I put it down to read something else and never picked it back up…

HOWEVER. Then I came across booktok. And let me tell you, the amount of videos I saw about ACOMAF as well as the rest of the series in general, it had me feeling like I needed to give it another chance. Now I am roughly half way through ACOMAF and I am LOVING IT. It was definitely worth giving it another shot once I knew Tamlin was going to become the “stupid bitch” I thought he was. 😌😍

... Read moreFor anyone still wondering, 'what is the ACOTAR series about?' Let me give you a quick rundown before diving deeper into my personal journey with the second book. The series, starting with A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR), plunges us into a fae world where human huntress Feyre Archeron is forced into the magical lands of Prythian. It’s a captivating tale of survival, romance, and ancient curses, setting the stage for a truly epic adventure. My initial struggles with A Court of Mist and Fury (ACOMAF) revolved heavily around the Feyre and Tamlin dynamic. After the intense events of book one, many readers, including myself, felt a disconnect with their relationship. It felt stifling, and honestly, a bit boring compared to the vibrant world and the promise of more. This is where the true brilliance of Sarah J. Maas shines, as she masterfully introduces the complexities of character growth and the stark contrast between Tamlin and Rhysand. The game-changer for me, and for countless others, was the emergence of Rhysand. As the OCR content highlighted, that iconic 'Hello, Feyre darling' isn't just a line; it’s a pivotal moment in the series. It marks the true beginning of the Rhysand and Feyre book journey, shifting the narrative dramatically. The relationship between Rhysand tamlin feyre and rhysand becomes the beating heart of ACOMAF, evolving from a simple love triangle into a profound exploration of healing, consent, and empowerment. The dramatic scene involving Tamlin and Rhysand, also mentioned in the OCR, really sets the stage for the epic conflict and character development that follows. It's where the question of Tamlin or Rhysand truly solidifies for many readers, especially as we witness Feyre's growth outside of Tamlin's influence and into the High Lady she was meant to be. ACOMAF tropes are another huge reason this book resonates so deeply. From the 'found family' dynamic with the Inner Circle to the emotionally charged ‘enemies-to-lovers’ (or at least, morally gray acquaintance to true love) arc between Feyre and Rhys, it’s packed with elements that keep you utterly engrossed. Feyre’s journey from a broken human girl in Feyre book 1 to a powerful, self-assured High Lady in ACOMAF is truly inspiring. The themes of overcoming trauma, finding your voice, and choosing your own path are incredibly well-executed, making the a court of mist and fury feyre and rhysand pairing one of the most beloved in modern fantasy. If you, like me, once put down acomaf, I wholeheartedly encourage you to give it another shot. Sometimes, a book needs a second chance, or perhaps a little nudge from dedicated fans on BookTok. You might just find yourself utterly captivated by the intricate plot, the unforgettable characters, and the epic romance that unfolds, proving that Tamlin vs Rhysand was never really a contest for Feyre's heart once she truly understood her own.

I haven’t stopped thinking about these characters since I read this book over a year ago. It brings me physical pain to know that they are not real. They feel like family. Not only that but their world is BEAUTIFUL. It’s literally a starry night dream, but it’s not real and I will never see it. No

but I think it’s a fantasy series worth reading
how many of you guessed the series before i revealed it? the poppy war is a grimdark military fantasy series, and it has a lot of disturbing elements. it doesn’t shy away from the realities and horrors of war, so if you find that content upsetting i would not recommend picking up these books.
