But after much trial and error, I finally pieced together a strategy that worked, and I’m excited to share it with you, so you don't have to suffer as much as I did. First off, preparation is absolutely key for this final battle in Apocrypha. Before you even think about engaging Miraak, make sure your gear is optimized. I found that having a strong set of enchanted armor made a huge difference. Focus on enchantments that boost your health, stamina, and magic resistance. Don't forget your weapons – whether you're a warrior, mage, or archer, ensure your primary damage dealer is fully upgraded. I personally found a good one-handed weapon with a powerful enchantment (like chaos or absorb health) combined with a healing spell in my off-hand to be very effective. Stock up on health and stamina potions, and don't be shy about bringing a few resist magic potions too. Understanding Miraak's tactics is crucial. He fights in several phases, often healing himself by absorbing the souls of dragons. This is probably the most frustrating part of the encounter for many! When he becomes ethereal and goes to absorb a dragon soul, you can't damage him. Use this time to regenerate your own health or stamina, or prepare your next attack. His shouts are incredibly powerful, especially his Dragon Aspect shout which makes him even tougher. I learned to use cover whenever possible to avoid the full force of his attacks. For combat strategy, I noticed that consistent damage is better than burst damage, especially in his later phases. Don't overcommit to attacks and leave yourself vulnerable. If you're a melee Dragonborn, try to stay close and circle him, hitting him between his shouts. For mages, fire spells seemed to work well for me, but don't forget to use wards for protection. Archers will need to maintain distance and continuously pepper him with arrows, perhaps enchanted with soul trap to gain extra souls from the dragons he consumes (though you won't get them from Miraak himself). My breakthrough moment came when I realized I wasn't being aggressive enough during his vulnerable phases. Once he's done absorbing a dragon soul, that's your window to unleash everything you've got. Don't hold back! Also, remember you are the Dragonborn too. Use your own shouts strategically. Become Ethereal can save you from a devastating blow, and Slow Time can give you precious seconds to land critical hits or heal. During my own fight, I found that using the Dragonrend shout on the dragons he summons was surprisingly helpful, as it grounded them and allowed me to quickly take them out before Miraak could absorb their souls for healing. It doesn't always prevent the absorption, but it can disrupt his rhythm.
