Any Hair Tips Welcome!

So I’m not even sure what type of hair I actually have!

I’ve been trying to figure it out myself but I struggle so much. My hair is wavy with SOME parts that curl.

A little info, my mother is Puerto Rican and my dad is from St. Thomas. Growing up my hair was always relaxed til middle school. Then I just straightened the hell out of it to the point of frying it.

That was just how I was taught to do my hair. But now, I’m trying to see if my hair curls at all and how to make it look nice. Or really just how to wear it without using so much heat!

My hair is currently extremely dry. I don’t have the money to get it done all the time. I’d love tips if anyone has hair similar to mine.

In the picture, my hair was blow dryer and I braided it overnight before taking it out.

What would be the best tips for me to try out to help keep my hair moisturized without feeling heavy!?

... Read moreUnderstanding your hair type is crucial for effective hair care. Wavy and curly hair often requires different moisture strategies than straight hair. Emphasizing hydration can significantly improve its texture and manageability. Consider incorporating products with natural oils, such as coconut or argan oil, which are known for their hydrating properties. A leave-in conditioner might also be beneficial for preventing dryness and maintaining your hair's health. Additionally, many individuals find that reducing the frequency of heat styling can dramatically improve their hair's condition. Instead, explore heat-free styling methods such as braiding or twisting your hair to enhance its natural texture. These techniques can create beautiful waves or curls without damaging the hair. Many people with similar hair types recommend deep conditioning treatments once a week to restore moisture and elasticity. Applying a hair mask, particularly one rich in hydrating ingredients, can help address extreme dryness and promote shinier, more manageable hair. Products formulated specifically for wavy or curly hair often contain additional nourishing ingredients that can enhance the definition of curls and waves. Lastly, engaging with communities and forums dedicated to natural hair care can provide a wealth of shared experiences and tips, helping you realize that you’re not alone in navigating hair care challenges!
