Non-negotiables at my wedding🤍💍
There are certain things for my wedding that I absolutely need to have—these are the things that matter most to me, and they can’t be changed.
*part 1 of a wedding series! (I’m not even getting married😅)*
👰♀️💍🤵
1. No garter toss: I really don’t like the idea of a garter toss. The whole idea of the groom flinging my garter to his guys is just weird to me, especially in front of family. It feels a bit uncomfortable, and I just don’t think it adds anything meaningful to the day.
2. Private vows before + first touch: I want to exchange vows privately before the ceremony. It’s a personal moment just for me and my partner. And during this moment, I want to have a first touch. We’ll hold hands, but not see each other, creating a beautiful and emotional connection before we officially walk down the aisle.
3. No first look: I want the first time I see my partner in their wedding attire to be when I walk down the aisle. It makes it more emotional, and I think it’ll make that moment even more special.
4. Age-inspired table numbers: Instead of using traditional table numbers, I’d like to use ages—maybe milestone ages from our lives. It’ll add a personal touch and be a fun conversation starter.
5. Authentic documentary/film style photos: I want my photos to be real and candid. I don’t want stiff, posed shots; I want to capture raw, genuine moments that reflect the true emotions of the day.
6. “Unplanned” moment photos: I love those unplanned, candid moments that happen during the day. The ones where you catch a real laugh or a sweet interaction—those are the memories that feel the most authentic.
7. Personalized guest letters: I’d like to write personalized letters or notes to my guests. It’s a way to show them how much I appreciate them being there and make the experience feel more special.
8. Audio guestbook: Instead of the typical guestbook, I think an audio guestbook would be unique. Guests can leave voice messages, and it’ll be a fun way to remember everyone’s presence.
9. No kids (unless close like siblings/nieces/nephews): It’s not because I hate kids—I actually love them! But most kids might not even want to be there, and they probably won’t understand what’s going on. Plus, their parents would end up worrying about them instead of enjoying the celebration. I’d rather keep the event relaxed and intimate, with just close family or friends.

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but focusing on non-negotiables can ground your vision and simplify decisions. Think about what truly matters to you; consider incorporating unique elements like a personalized guest book or selecting an intimate guest list to create a relaxed atmosphere. Explore the importance of meaningful traditions and how to make them your own. For instance, instead of a garter toss, why not opt for a dance that represents your relationship? Capture those authentic moments through documentary-style photography, which tells your love story in a candid, relatable manner. Moreover, consider unique touches like audio guestbooks—it’s a memorable way for guests to share their thoughts or well-wishes. And remember, making your wedding feel comfortable means prioritizing an atmosphere where your guests can enjoy the celebration without distractions. Ultimately, identify your values as a couple and ensure your wedding reflects them. Combine creative ideas with traditional elements tailored to your preferences to make your wedding day a true representation of your love story.

I am absolutely using this as inspo, well I’ll probably have kids because I’ll have kids in the procession, but i probably won’t for the after party
