The day is finally here!
The amount of work & time I put into this kitchen makes it even more rewarding to see the way it looks now. I have cried over frustration. Running into problem after problem. Have lost hope and the want to keep going. But I pushed through to make this space feel like me. Like home. Although I have so many ideas and paint colors in mind to get what I want, it looks 1000 times better than before I touched it. #fyp #renovation #paint #kitchen #kitchenmakeover
Kitchen renovation can often feel overwhelming, especially when confronting unexpected problems such as extensive cleaning and complicated electrical issues. From personal experience, patience is key—take the time to thoroughly clean every surface, as grime can hide damage you’ll want to address early on. For instance, I faced cabinets that demanded hours of scrubbing to prep for painting, which proved crucial for a smooth finish. Electrical rewiring was another hurdle in my kitchen makeover. Old or faulty wiring is not just inconvenient but can be hazardous, so consulting a professional electrician is highly recommended. I learned that even outlets that seem functional may be improperly wired, so it’s important to ensure everything meets safety standards before proceeding. Painting layer after layer was tiring but rewarding. I found that allowing each coat to fully dry and lightly sanding between paint applications made a significant difference in achieving a polished look. Also, ceilings often get overlooked, yet painting mine multiple times helped unify the space and brighten the kitchen. Inspiration was drawn from natural light—the kitchen window gave me ideas on how to create a cozy atmosphere by reflecting light and choosing warm paint colors. Wanting your renovation to feel like home is what keeps the motivation alive during frustrating moments. If you’re starting your own kitchen renovation, prepare for ups and downs but know that persistence and attention to detail will result in a space that truly feels yours.
