Since so many of you are curious about Killua's look, I wanted to share a bit more about what makes him, and Neva Masquerades in general, so striking! When I first saw Killua, his light fur and those piercing blue eyes immediately captivated me. It's a hallmark of the Neva Masquerade breed, which is a colorpoint variant of the Siberian cat. Their bodies are typically lighter, with darker points on their face, ears, paws, and tail. With Killua, his points are a beautiful seal point, deepening to a rich brown, and it contrasts so wonderfully with his creamy body. As the OCR noted, his 'light fur' is incredibly soft to the touch, almost like silk. I remember one morning, I found him resting on a bed, his bell collar jingling softly as he stretched. His fur, which the OCR picked up as 'light fur,' is actually semi-long and incredibly soft. It’s a joy to pet! Unlike some other long-haired breeds, Neva Masquerades have a triple coat, which provides them with excellent insulation and makes them surprisingly resilient. This also means they don't mat easily, but a good brush once or twice a week keeps them looking their absolute best and helps manage any shedding. I love grooming Killua; it’s a great bonding experience, and it really brings out the luster in his coat. Sometimes, he'll be curled up with Kite on our black blanket, as seen in one of the photos, and you can truly appreciate the depth of his fur colors against the dark fabric. Their fur is dense and lies close to the body, making them look even more majestic. And those eyes! The OCR mentioned 'blue eyes,' and it's so true. All Neva Masquerades have stunning blue eyes, ranging from a pale sky blue to a deep sapphire. Killua’s are a vibrant blue that seems to change with the light, always full of curiosity and affection. It's one of the first things people notice about him, and it definitely adds to his majestic appeal. His face has that classic broad, wedge-shaped Siberian look, with strong cheekbones and a gentle expression. He's got charming tufts of fur on his ears, which are quite adorable, and his tail is long and bushy, like a magnificent plume. His paws are also large and well-furred, adding to his substantial, sturdy appearance. What’s also fascinating about their appearance is how their colorpoint genetics work. They're born almost entirely white or very light-colored, and their points gradually darken as they get older, especially in cooler temperatures. Watching Killua and Kite develop has been amazing. Since they were born on April 3rd, 2023, their colors are still maturing, and I can already see their points becoming more defined and richer. They're both robust cats, with a strong, muscular build, which makes them feel like substantial, cuddly companions. Killua, despite his elegant appearance, is quite playful and active, often chasing toys with surprising agility for his size. So, when you think about Killua's appearance, it's not just about a pretty face or his 'light fur' and 'blue eyes.' It's about the exquisite combination of his beautiful colorpoint coat, the captivating blue eyes, his sturdy, well-muscled build, and that luxurious semi-long fur.
