August & Theodora
• Lost and Lassoed by Lyla Sage 🤠🤎
rating: ●●●●◐ = 4.5 stars
I knew I was going to love Gus and Teddy’s story from the moment they were introduced in Done and Dusted (book 1). Teddy is such a funny, outspoken woman, and I adored her so much. Her relationships with everyone around her are incredibly special—her bond with her dad, her friendship with Emmy, and her connection with Riley.
Then there’s August (Gus)—acts of service—Ryder. The grumpy, single dad with a lot on his plate, who never asks for help when he needs it.
One of my favorite aspects of this book was the healthy co-parenting relationship between Gus and Cam. So much as Cam and Teddy being friends.
The heartfelt conversation Cam had with Gus about their family was so beautiful (cue in the happy tears).
If you loved Heartless by Elsie Silver, you should read this!

Okay, so we've talked about Gus and Teddy, but can we just take a moment for the cover of 'Lost and Lassoed'? Seriously, the moment I saw that cover – with the cowboy and the woman embracing – it immediately set the perfect tone for the story. It's so visually evocative, perfectly capturing that sweet, rugged romance vibe Lyla Sage delivers in every single page. For anyone like me who loves to delve into the aesthetics of a book, this cover is a masterpiece. I remember seeing it pop up on my feed, and that image alone had me hooked. It's such a strong first impression. The artwork, featuring a clear embrace between a cowboy and a woman, immediately tells you this is a romance with heart and a touch of country charm. The blurb from Elena Armas on the cover only solidifies the promise of a fantastic read – if she loves it, I know I will too! What I particularly love about the 'Lost and Lassoed' cover is how perfectly it foreshadows the tropes within. Just by looking at it, you can almost feel the 'small town' setting and sense the 'forced proximity' that's about to unfold between Gus and Teddy. The imagery of the cowboy and the woman embracing just screams 'opposites attract' and hints at the 'loathe to love' journey that makes this book so compelling. It perfectly encapsulates the 'single dad x part-time nanny' dynamic without giving everything away, adding to the intrigue. It’s not just a pretty picture; it’s a brilliant visual summary of the story within. For anyone who, like me, occasionally judges a book by its cover (guilty!), this one absolutely nails it. It promises all the classic romance tropes we adore: a 'cowboy' hero? Absolutely. And that subtle hint of a 'best friend's brother' connection? It’s all there, subtly embedded in the visual narrative. The way the light hits the characters, the colors chosen – it all contributes to a sense of warmth and anticipation that makes you want to pick up the book immediately. This cover really fits in with the overall vibe of the #rebelblueranch series too, maintaining that consistent small-town, cowboy romance aesthetic that fans have come to love. It's cohesive, beautiful, and most importantly, it makes you incredibly excited to dive into Gus and Teddy's world. It truly is an iconic cover that stands out on any bookshelf, virtual or physical.
