Replying to @MJ💙🫐 The way I still cling to bags after NOT using them for extended periods of time 🧍♀️ #declutter #purses #coach #telfar
I've always found it surprisingly difficult to part with purses, even those I haven't used in months or years. Some of these bags, like my mom’s vintage purse collection, hold so many memories that the thought of letting them go feels like losing a piece of history. When I started a purse declutter, part 3 of which I'm sharing here, I realized that the emotional value often outweighs practical usage. One of the main challenges is balancing sentimental attachment with the need for space and organization. Brands like Coach and Telfar have really appealing designs that make the decision to keep or part with them even tougher. What helped me was creating a 'use it or lose it' challenge, where I committed to using each purse over a set period. If a bag didn’t make the rotation, it was easier to consider donating or selling it. Another tip is to take photos of the purses before letting them go to preserve their memory without the physical clutter. Vintage pieces especially deserve this as they tell a story. Finally, I found it liberating to donate bags to those who will appreciate and use them, turning my decluttering into a positive exchange rather than a loss. If you’re struggling with your own bag collection, remember that decluttering isn’t about erasing memories but making space for new experiences while honoring the past. This approach has made my process feel more personal and meaningful.
