How I prepared my dogs to meet my baby! 🐶🤍
As I got ready for my little one to arrive, I made sure my dogs were comfortable and knew what to expect. Here’s how I prepared them for the change:
🍼 Spent Time in the Nursery
I started spending time in the nursery with them so they could get used to the space and the new baby items.
🧸 Introduced Baby’s Stuff
I began leaving baby toys, clothes, and other items around the house. I worked on teaching them that these things weren’t for them, so they wouldn’t be tempted to chew or play with them!
🐾 Created a Doggie Sanctuary
I set up a designated space just for my dogs with their bed and toys so they had a comfy area where they could go if they needed some alone time. This also worked well in case I needed to quickly put them away for some personal space, too.
Overall, they have adjusted really well to the newest member of the family 💗🐶 #lemon8partner #newborn #newborntips #nestingpregnancy #dogtraining
Welcoming a new baby into your home is an exciting journey, but it can be a significant transition for your dogs as well. To ensure your pets feel secure and understand the changes, start preparing them early. One of the first steps is to introduce them to the nursery. Spend time in that space with your dogs, allowing them to explore and become familiar with baby items without associating them with negative experiences. Leaving baby items around the house helps teach them boundaries regarding toys and clothes not meant for them, promoting positive behavior. Additionally, creating a 'doggie sanctuary' is crucial. Designate a private area with their bed and toys where they can retreat if they feel overwhelmed. This space will serve as a comfortable zone for them to relax, especially when they need a break from the hustle and bustle of a growing family. Moreover, training your dogs is essential to establish good habits. Using positive reinforcement, reward them for appropriate behavior regarding baby items. This will help them understand what’s acceptable and encourage them to respect the new boundaries you’re setting. Lastly, monitoring their interactions with the baby once they arrive is vital. Supervision plays a key role in ensuring everyone's safety and comfort. By following these steps, you can create a more harmonious environment that welcomes both your new baby and furry friends, making the transition smoother for all.
