Murphy ACCT-A-208462 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Murphy must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER, or ADOPTER by SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22ND at 10AM. Should Murphy’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Meet Murphy – an energetic, wiggly ball of fun! When some staff members first met Murphy he picked up a toy and came straight over with a wagging tail ready for attention. He’s super friendly and loves getting pets, especially those good butt scratches! Murphy is gentle with treats and knows basic commands like “sit” and “speak.” Murphy is a playful, fun-loving boy who would thrive in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise and affection. If you’re looking for a happy, spirited companion to keep you on your toes, Murphy is the one for you! Murphy was unfortunately left in an apartment and was brought to the shelter on December 5th. Murphy met another dog while at the shelter and would potentially do well in a home with a high energy or very tolerant dog. If you have any dogs, please bring them along for a meet! Murphy would do best in a home where any children are over the age of 12.

12/11 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Murphy was napping when the handler approached. He popped up with soft eyes when the handler opened the door, and was patient for leashing. He came right out once secured.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls strongly
HANDLING:
As soon as Murphy came into the room he picked up a toy and came right up to both handlers with a wagging tail, loose wiggling body, and soft eyes. He allowed all handling right away and wiggled happily for butt scratches. He was very gentle with treats and knew “sit” but had some trouble sitting still. He also knew “speak” but didn’t show us any other tricks. He did demand bark at times, but it wasn’t obnoxious. He got a little mouthy with some play, but redirected onto a toy easily. Overall, Murphy was a super friendly, energetic, wiggly boy.

Engages in play, gets mouthy but will redirect onto toys easily
