I don’t have clear skin - let’s chat

I have never had clear skin. No matter what I tried, what I ate, what I did. Yes it’s better now that I’m using product that will help it but it’s still not clear.

I’m prone to breakouts, I’m a notorious skin picker, and I enjoy my oily food. I never learned how to really use makeup (I tired once, it didn’t look good, so I gave up). I’ll use concealer here are there for my bags but I never cover up spots. I’ve settle in that “Hi my name is Amanda. I’ve got acne. So what.”

AND YOU SHOULD TOO. It’s what makes you who you are. Why cover your acne to fit into some beauty standard set by people who can afford medications and facials every week. I can’t afford that. My $15 face wash from Amazon is about all I can afford for it. Yes, i still so skin care but I know it’s not a miracle worker and I’m okay with it. Obviously if you do it for you and because you feel good about it, don’t let me stop you. But if at any point while reading this you said “true👀” then I would try for maybe just a week. It’s confidence building. 3 years ago I wouldn’t wanna leave my house if I picked the night before; but here I am today putting my skin on blast on the internet. Sure, one day I’d love to have clear skin but for now I’ve got this. And you know what, I don’t hate it. And in no way am I flaming people who wear makeup to cover acne. I’m doing this so maybe, just maybe, someone who reads this goes “you know what, screw it” and accepts that they do have acne and that it’s not something to hide. It’s normal.

... Read moreAcne affects millions, yet societal pressures often create feelings of shame and inadequacy. It's essential to understand that skin imperfections are a common experience, not a personal flaw. Instead of hiding behind layers of makeup, consider joining the movement to celebrate real skin. Many are opting for a no-makeup approach, sharing their unfiltered selves on social media platforms. Engaging with communities that support self-love and normalize acne can empower individuals to embrace their natural beauty. Remember, every skin has its story, and accepting oneself is the first step to confidence. Moreover, effective skincare strategies can help manage breakouts without resorting to heavy cosmetics. Gentle cleansing routines, non-comedogenic moisturizers, and treatments tailored for acne-prone skin can enhance your skin's natural appearance. If you're struggling, consulting with a dermatologist is beneficial. They can recommend personalized skincare regimens that fit your budget while addressing your skin concerns. Let’s redefine beauty by advocating for authenticity and self-acceptance—because clear skin is not the only definition of beauty.

I wish someone would have said this to me when I had severe acne. I had severe cystic acne all through my teen years and into adulthood and finally took accutane that cleared it all up a few years ago. I am now 31.
